I found the manual detailing how to conduct the T-Con RGBW test from:
    http://goihl.com/42LV5500/
Prior to contacting badcaps, I viewed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAnjxwm6ea0
Although it had some vague aspects it led me to the above links for manuals.
His tip as to alternative point on the T-Con to jump 3v for RGBW test, R412 south side was particularly helpful.
Thanks for a link for reflow, but I have some trepidation and don't have confidence that a hair dryer will suffice.
I do have a thermal gun and flux in box somewhere in the house after renovations if I can find such.
There are so few of these mainboards available in the wild, so I don't to make a mess of the exercise.

You did not comprehend the process, he only used a hairdryer to try to help diagnose the problem, when he did the reflow, he used his hot air station, not a hairdryer.

I was thinking about a different video, hadn't sighted your link at the time. But I suppose that I'll quickly find that a hairdryer is not designed for the purpose of burning hair off a person's head.
Indeed I recall there would be a thermal fuse that would let go upon attempts to restrict the aperture.
I was hesitating at the expense of a hot air tool, but now may have a budget remedy for that. I gather that set point 300 degrees C would be near the mark.
As to warming the reverse side of that board, perhaps if of significant importance, I could park a hair dryer there. That seems safer than a glass incandescent.
However I've noticed that multi-layer boards soak up and retain heat and would have first imagined that even heating chip side alone might suffice?
I'm willing to hear that a better result is more likely by also heating bottom side.
As to thermal tape, I actually have some. Whether I can find it is another issue.
In lieu of that, or additionally, perhaps as shield a couple of slightly crumpled layers of aluminium foil surrounding the BGA with a cutout?
