• Re: Sony remote control RM-GD007 glued?

Yeah, I made a similar complaint some tens of years ago to a publication that has now ceased operation.
The advice was that for tiny caps it doesn't much matter.
We were dealing with liquid cans in those days, yet still they appear....

Actually I was dealing with the originally issued item so far as I know.
I could be wrong since it was from a relative that didn't want to pay and take the risk of a T-Con replacement.
It was marked as made in Malaysia.

Thanks for that video link.
Evidently it was a different build from the unit at hand.
There were no screws, unlike in the video.
But it gave me a clue as to which direction to spudger, in particular with the buttons facing bench.
The fact of a separable shell was highly concealed by a raised strip along both sides of the front section.
It was necessary to use a very sharp spudger with significant force to crack it.
In the process, managed to cut my thumb.
I almost gave up, with the notion to buy yet...

Only by carefully following instructions in the manual, if it exists in the wild.
Still you have mentioned 5 sec life only, which is not encourgaging.

Did you venture to find a manual that might offer T-Con and panel capability testing?
On a recent job of mine, there was a means to jump start the T-Con in a test pattern, displaying variously RGBW across the panel.

I am aware that there can be some forms of feedback.
For example from panel to T-Con if severe issue.
Perhaps also from T-Con to mainboard.
Guess this is not particularly helpful though.

Well, if so, is there any sign that the mainboard directs the power supply to do anything at all, upon notional press of power on?
Gee I might have to learn more about OLED!
Just thought that they were darker forms of LED...

Is backlight confirmed?
Or is the mainboard simply not asking for it?
Perhaps on various models, the mainboard is responsible for reflecting standby 3v or so in order to ask the power supply to activate more fully.
Unless you have backlight I would not be messing with the T-Con.

• Sony remote control RM-GD007 glued?

Have not found a manner to open this remote without a hammer or grinder.
So far as I can tell, there is no manner to decently open it and remove oil from the contacts.
Any secret technique would be welcome.

• Re: LG 42LV5500 TV - black screen, no sound, no image, no backlight

I was thinking about a different video, hadn't sighted your link at the time. But I suppose that I'll quickly find that a hairdryer is not designed for the purpose of burning hair off a person's head.
Indeed I recall there would be a thermal fuse that would let go upon attempts to restrict the aperture.
I was hesitating at the expense of a hot air tool, but now may have a budget remedy for that. I gather that set point 300 degrees C would be near the mark.
As to warming the reverse side of that...

I found the manual detailing how to conduct the T-Con RGBW test from:
http://goihl.com/42LV5500/
Prior to contacting badcaps, I viewed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAnjxwm6ea0
Although it had some vague aspects it led me to the above links for manuals.
His tip as to alternative point on the T-Con to jump 3v for RGBW test, R412 south side was particularly helpful.
Thanks for a link for reflow, but I have some trepidation and don't have confidence that a hair...

Yes I have done that backlight test, also T-Con RGBW pattern test.
Both good.
To clarify, above tests were conducted after finding INV-ON = DRV-ON was low from mainboard.

I also have a LG 42LV5500-TA, failed whilst in operation.
AC on relay click, nothing more.
Test of backlight was ok.
Test of RBGW rotation by T-Con was ok.
So now trying to find a mainboard EBU61302301, EAX64104703 (1) without much joy.
I'm guessing from prior comments that a hair drier fan on the video processor might not be ample heat for reflow. Perhaps longer localized time?

The later pictures that I saw of your chassis still exhibited a similarly wide region of vertical outage, the stripe including not quite darkness at the sides with a centered bright region of rubbish.
I do hope that you can find some pressure points on the bonds to help the situation....

Have you examined the connectors and ribbon with high magnification for any flaws?
To repeat from the other thread, you might have missed? At which time the "above" was some confusing information about when sound was present or not.

Confusion would be diminished if your chassis story was not spread across two threads. Can you resume your opening thread?
Have you cleaned the ribbon cables and connectors with IPA?
PS: I am now quite confused as to when you did and did not have sound. It would help if you can re-express the above comments in more carefully constructed grammar, preferably in the opening thread, with a view to bring conclusion to this story soon....

Looking at the GL schematic that budm found, each of R_OUT, B_OUT and G_OUT have feedback comparators, and also zeners to detect over voltage and raise ERROR.
Probably the simplest information to consider initially would the be volt readings on all the other external connectors, without the redundancy, before and after fault detected. I gather you're already happy with the PFC 400v supply....

Sounds like you might want to petition for a special concession!
Have you looked elsewhere?
My experience is that postage from USA to other places in the world is prohibitively expensive compared to some other places. sorry to say, but real.
Have you been able to isolate whether each of the R B G drive lines lift sensibly, and whether perhaps one of those triggers over voltage error?...
