Vizio D58u-D3 failing leds, seeking strips or leds

    Good evening all.

Not that anyone will be surprised on this site, but I have a Vizio TV with failing LEDs. I have already bought another TV, but I’m looking to repair my 58”. I have contacted ShopJimmy and they do not have the led strips for my tv. Vizio was zero help.

I have few questions to those who know more than me...
    1. Is there anywhere else to get replacement led strips for my Vizio?
    2. Might I be able to use the led strips from a D60? They look identical, but have a different part number?
    3. If 1 & 2 can’t be done, does anyone know what kid of led diodes I need for my 58” so that I can swap out diodes?

Option 3 is a lot more work, but if that is my only option then I’m willing to give it a try.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice.
    Phil

I'm guessing you haven't opened up the TV yet, but that may be necessary for a part number on the strips. I think this is the key to unlock what is available. Good luck on getting specs for them, Vizio isn't very forthcoming with service and parts information.

The ones from the E60 won't work. The LED's are usually model and size specific on Vizios but there are exceptions.

Have you checked voltages on the LED's yet? Does voltage for the strips come from the power board or a back light inverter board?

Pics of the back of the TV with the board layout and the individual boards always seems to draw help faster.

I have not opened up the tv yet. My replacement comes tomorrow. Then I’ll be willing to open this 58 up.
That said, Vizio and ShopJimmy conformed the led strip part number.
      SVG580A02L/SVG580A02R

But neither could give me specs for the diodes. Based on my tv and comparing them to others I’m making a fair guess that the strips and/or led have failed.

I have also read that Vizios and LG have the same internal parts. Not sure how truthful the information is though.

Checked that part number on ebay and came up with this

        https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Kit-10-...caGY:rk:1:pf:0

meihua361000 is a reputable seller I have purchased from in the past and recommended before on this board.

Thanks. I saw that one. I hesitated because it was from “China”/Asia.

You need to match the LED strips to the LCD panel model number, TV manufacturers may use more than one LCD panel manufacturer for the same TV model number.

So you recommend opening up tv and looking at strips before I order anything ? Just to be safe?

What is the LCD model number?
For example: see the LCD panel sticker number on that page?:

That is the model number of the TV, the LCD panel has its own model number.

I won’t know that until I open the tv up. Unless that is visible somewhere externally.

You have to remove the back of the TV to see the LCD panel number sticker.

I’m not exactly a tv or electrical guru. So my full understanding of terminology might be a bit off.

                            Sorry I’m advance.

Well I would assume all TV parts are made in China. If you buy from a US seller, they would have imported it anyway. Just may take around 2 weeks to get in with epacket shipping.

                                    Sorry for the delay.
Received my 70” replacement. Used it 12hrs and now it has a 6” vertical dead zone.
So I have been messing with Vizion on returning it. I will not get another Vizio. I actually bought a 65” Samsung. Hopefully I have better luck with Samsung.

                                      Update-01/07/19
I finally have received my replacement backlights and have installed them successfully. The disassembly of the tv actually went very smooth. Took my time, wore gloves, used sucktion cups to remove panel. When I put it back together, again, everything went smooth and without issue.

I turned tv on and the left side of picture is darker and there is pixel lag. The right side is bright and sharp. I have included images of new issue.

                                      Things I have tried:
Disconnected Tcon ribbons, inspected, cleaned, and installed correctly.
Ensured the “address bar”, things connected to tcon board are not damaged. Nothing visible.

I have attached images of the new issue.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and do not have a deep knowledge of “electrical systems”. But I am techy and willing to take a shot.

That is usually a symptom of bad tab bonds (the flex circuits that connect the panel to the narrow circuit boards). Sometimes they can be shimmed to create some pressure as a workaround.
