Congratulations! Remember to get the "good" side tabs tucked into the protectors.Leave a comment:

I have actually seen YouTube videos showing people using heat. The glue holding the tabs on will soften with heat. Look here starting at around 55 seconds:

Well i dont actually have a "heat gun" but I do have a hair dryer. I guess it cant hurt. I just wont place it very close to the panel in hopes of avoiding any heat damage.Leave a comment:

Would using a hair dryer to "warm up" the tab connections loosen or is that heat not hot enough to do anything?Leave a comment:

Sounds good. Yes I saw that post. Remove all or none.Leave a comment:

Peel them off. And if something gets left behind, I would turn on the TV before trying anything aggressive to remove the remnants. (Also, I made a post that went to the previous page (Page 2) of this thread. You need to remove all 8 of them.)Last edited by Charleyd; 01-10-2019, 03:32 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio D58u-D3 failing leds, seeking strips or leds
Got it (i think). So should I tear them off or use a Razor and cut them clean with the panel edge?Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio D58u-D3 failing leds, seeking strips or leds
The control and power for the side gate drivers comes from the T-Con, and then is fed through the bottom edge boards to the outer-edge of the last bottom flex connector at each corner and then into the panel. Then through the panel itself up to the side tabs.Leave a comment:

Also, not sure if you can see it on the pictures of the side tabs...on the Vizio there is not side address bar. So the side drivers dont appear to be connected to anything. It almost likethe tab is integrated into the panel somehow.Leave a comment:

Do you know of any youtube videos that show the the tab removal process? I havent found any just yet.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio D58u-D3 failing leds, seeking strips or leds
The side tabs work in a bucket-brigade fashion. The T-Con sends a Start signal to the first (top) one to start, and when it finishes driving its corresponding 1/8th of the screen, the IC in the first tab sends a trigger to the second one to start, and so-on. So they must all be good or all be removed.Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio D58u-D3 failing leds, seeking strips or leds
If I remove 1 Tab on the bad side could i test the image and see if that "horizontal band" is fixed? OR do I need to remove all 8 tabs before testing?Leave a comment:

Yes I (and others) have physically removed tabs on one side of a TV panel and the TV worked essentially good-as-new. I expect that you are about to save your TV. (And on the good side, make sure that the black protectors are in good shape and the tabs are tucked behind them. Be gentle with the tabs.)
This is my last shot. If this doesn't work, the TV will be out at the curb next Wednesday morning.Leave a comment:

by howardc64Failure Symptom
No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

by edugimenoHi There!
Having fixed 5-6 TV sets by replacing full LED strips, and having watched other people fix that by replacing just one LED in the strip, my question now is what should I consider before doing so.
At this time I have some old strips removed from TV's with all but one LED working. Are there different voltage/current LED on different strips? Are 99% of them just the same and interchangeable?
How do you find which specific model is needed for each strip? When I check if a LED is OK by attaching the multimeter leads to the individual led pads on the strips I... -
by KingfreddieOk.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.
This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by smortSoooo, I found someone giving away their 70" Vizio TV because it wouldn't turn on. Hoping it would be just some bad caps, I snapped it up. No dice. No bulging caps. TV would start consuming about 7W immediately after plugging it in, but no response from the remote or power button. Thermal showed the main chip on the mobo getting warm and nothing else. Power supply appeared to deliver stable 12V to the mainboard.
I ordered a replacement mobo(actually both mobo and PSU just to be sure) and popped it in. Picture! Sound! Endorphins! Then I noticed three long dark strips. Hmmm, had... - Loading...
