Per post 32: backlights are on.

There is no channel number displayed on the front screen. I get absolutely nothing but black on front screen!

I do see light coming from the backside when the power is on. I assume that is what you are referring to? Yes, I do have sound from the speakers, but I can't change channels nor lower/raise the volume.

Looks like with your model, the tcon is abundant and reasonably priced for a new board.

On some Sony models, there is a low supply of used boards and sellers want big bucks. The IC is a fine pitch 48 pin QFP and tricky to replace without a bit of experience and a hot air tool.

Thanks Neil, much appreciated! I will report back here once I have installed the new fuse. I'm hoping that the new fuse will make everything work as good as new.

Any idea or guess as to how long these Sony TV's may last? I mean I know that at any time something can go haywire with electronics. I still have a Mitsubishi TV from the early 90's that is still playing! Knock on wood..LOL

    If you want a 0603,

    https://www.digikey.com/product-deta...0CT-ND/1878995

They are only 30 cents each so order 5 of each size if you want. Don't think Arrow does small orders. Stick with Digikey.

I measured the fuse that is bad, and it is approximately 1.75mm(long) X .85mm(wide) That fuse you gave me the link to appears to be much smaller, and I don't think it will work. I have located another smd fuse that is rated at 32V/5A that is 1.61mm X .88mm in a 0603 type. Here are 2 links I have found listed by Arrow:

    https://www.arrow.com/en/products/sf...p500m-2/bourns

Do you think any one of these would be OK? Thanks!

Yeah, you're right. I'll just order the fuse and be done with it. I've come this far, no use in taking any unnecessary chances. Thanks again for your help! I just hope that it was the fuse, and not another component that caused the fuse to burn out. Perhaps a power surge, lightning or something else that may have caused this fuse to blow. Wish I knew for certain. Cheers!

    Re: Sony KDL-37XBR6 Black Screen

So I tried soldering to that tiny fuse with an automotive fuse as suggested, but I just can't get it to hold. I also thought that I may be able to get a small smd fuse off of some left over old computer boards, but it seems that these pc components don't have fuses built on. I managed to find one on a mother board, but it was much larger in size and probably wasn't rated the correct V/A.

I was thinking about trying to solder one single piece of copper wire that I know would burn up before a 5 amp rated fuse would. If this fuse is the cause for that BU board not to work, wouldn't it be OK to try and use this small single copper wire just temporary to see if I get a picture? Then if I do, I can order the correct fuse and solder the new fuse on top the old faulty one. What do y'all think of this? I will wait to hear back before actually doing this! Thanks again!

Yes I do have some car fuses I could try. Thanks for that! I'll rig it up and see what happens. I'll report back later once I get to it. Thanks again!

BTW, I was thinking of maybe soldering a very small gauge copper wire to jump that fuse just to see if I can get the TV to work. Would this OK to do just to try it out?

One other thing I have noticed is that the BU board in my TV seems to be marked as if someone had already fixed it or tried to fix it. But I am not 100% sure about this. What brought this to my attention is that they have some red and blue colored marks on the board, and also the other fuse (F1421) that is shown on the schematics you posted is not there? Is that fuse supposed to be soldered there, or perhaps some models don't have them?

    Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Black screen on Sony 65x90ch (65x900h from Costco)
    by Adam Russ
Weird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....

Sony XBR-75X950G seems dead with a black screen but backlight and sound is working and no blinking red lights
    by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

    Does...

    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

    Hello everyone !

My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...
