Hi all, I have a Philips 42pfl5609/98 TV that can only stay in standby mode after the power is switched on. TV have a steady red standby light but refuses to turn after pressing the on button. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
3.3VSB should be present the minute you apply AC to the TV.
Since you do have standby Voltage to run the main board, then the main board should send out the P-ON to turn on the rest of the power supply, that P-ON pin DCV should change state when you toggle the power switch.

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
Thanks for your reply bdum! After checking the P-ON pin on the power supply board and the main board i realized that there is no voltage reading at either end of the board. How should i proceed next?Comment

I took the voltage reading when I pressed the power switch.Comment

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
You can try verify the power supply function by forcing the rest of the power supply on by using 330 ~ 470 Ohms 1/4W between the 3.3V and the P-ON but you must remove the connector that goes to the main board first. If the power supply is OK then you should see the rest of the switched power supplies come on.Never stop learning

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
Thank you Budm, I tried what you suggested. I measured the bottom 3 pins of p802 connector (marked as 24v) and managed to get 24v output. What should I do next?Last edited by x0clouds0x; 06-23-2018, 04:35 AM.Comment

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
Without connecting the std-by to the BL-ON and connecting the backlights to test if the backlights are working, I would think you have a Main Bd. problemComment

Re: Philips 42pfl5609/98 stuck in standby mode
Thanks, Andrew F. Ali and budm! I could get the back light to turn on, so it should be the main board problem. How can I test the main board?Comment

You can also try heating and cooling the board and the EEPROM to see if it will make any different.Never stop learning

by lepak06Hello
I have an TV Led 4K Selecline 65s18 with mainboard T.MS3458.U801
The TV is faulty with stuck in Standby RED LED. Can't power the TV.
Before this problem , the TV stuck the picture with artefact , i unplug the AC cable and since the tv is stuck in standby .
All voltage are OK on PSU and main board for regulator. I tried flash firmware 25Q64 with many dumps
But the voltage on power button is 0.6V not 3.3V. When i press power button the voltage up to 0V. I tried to add 5V with Power Supply on 5V_STB and 3.3V on Power... -
by lego1234567Hi. I have the following problem with my TV. After connecting to mains, the standby led (red) turns on, but TV is not responding to remote control or buttons on TV. After some measurements, I found out that +5 V standby voltage is present, but I dont have ON/OFF signal coming in to turn PSU on. It stays at zero volts. After looking at the schematic of the mainboard, I should get ON/OFF signal coming in at the R1402 resistor, but it stays around +3,5 V. So I removed it and I was able to turn on TV with buttons on TV, but not with remote control.
What could be the problem ? Thanks...2 Photos01-21-2024, 03:39 AM -
by modtoolDear colleagues,
I've entered the repair of the chromebook machines just one month ago and I've found some significant differences from the classic laptops or macbooks, so I'm searching some advices.
The owner of this chromebook gave it to me after it has been left flooded by water for almost a week, so chances of repair were not so high, the mainboard was oxidyzed in many spots but I made a nice cleaning, resoldering and component replaging work and now it is almost working.
Among other things I've cleaned many spots from oxyds, reballed CPU, EMMC, EC, replaced...05-07-2025, 06:10 AM -
by grimacelordHello,
I have a CFI-1215A PS5 (EDM-030 board) here that won't boot normally. It currently will immediately boot into Safe Mode upon power button press with a screen that says "Processing" and then a progress bar that usually begins around 75-84% and slowly climbs up to 99% where it will hang forever. The console will not ever escape past the 99% mark.
Things I have tried:
1. Tried force booting into Safe Mode by pressing and holding power button for 2 beeps so I could use a reinstallation USB, but the console still boots into Safe Mode with the... -

Auto shutdown by the supervisor IC because of an under voltage condition with 12V output rail (dropped to 10.5V)
The same rail also does this when the PSU is in standby mode.

The leakage keeps climbing at a steady rate but slowing down when it reaches over 800mV or so. I didn't measure exactly at what value it stopped or if it's even stopped at all.
What could have caused that?
First time I have seen such behavior.
3.3V and 5V rails don't have the same... - Loading...
