LG 37LV3500 No Picture, Backlights working

Found a scorch mark on the tcon shield and burnt out IC on the Tcon.

Screen has a 1 pixel vertical blue line at left edge and splotchy screen at an angle (like it wasn't cleaned well underneath the panel).

Unplugged LVDS cable and blue line goes away so looks like it is from Tcon and not panel. Splotchiness not that visible when viewing directly from the front and probably not too visible with an image.

Replacement Tcon boards are around $30 USD.

When you replace the T-CON Bd. the blotchy screen should clear up.

I think what you are going find out is that the panel is bad and caused the IC to burn up.
The blue line went away when removing the LVDS cable due to no more 12V to run the T-CON.

Any other opinions/experiences? The ebay seller cancelled my tcon board order. Can't find any exact part matches on ebay. There seem to be several different versions of this tcon - shopjimmy says mine is 2484B stamped on the board.

If you had a spare IC you could replace it, then if it cooked the replaced IC, would be a very good bet for bad panel, don't know if there's a way to test the panel.

I found a board on Aliexpress for $8. Picture showed 2484B and got a 2484C with extra connector. Plugged it in and got half a screen. Checked the tcon ribbon on the bad side and the connector is melted where it attaches to the flex circuit. Should have done a better inspection. Would have been a good find. Was a nice thin TV.

Edit add: Tearing it apart, lots of damage on the left side flex. Looks like a coffee was dumped on that part of the screen. TV is edge-lit hence the thinness.

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                by kca
                Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
                by iglitare
                Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

Samsung UE58TU7100K - no picture, vertical line
                by mrsith
                Hi.

Got UE58TU7100K with no picture - backlight comes on though. Figured out that's a perfect candidate for cut tape method.

This model has just one LVDS tape coming off main board - and two panel boards underneath the LCD screen are connected to each other via small tape. Like curved screens. I've tried to disconnect half of the screen (5he side without LVDS connector on it, obviously), no joy.

Disconnected the tape (main board side). Applied a small piece of tape, covering first ~4-5 pins. Powered the TV on - got picture. In negative, but that's...

                TCL 55US57 backlights, no picture.

So here we go with another screen short TCL. For this exercise left and right will be reference looking at the screen.

The person I got this TV from said the color was bad in a vertical fashion about 1/4 of the way over the left side of the screen. Shortly after the symptoms below started.

Power Supply, main and T-CON board are working.

Symptoms: The TV has backlights but no picture with both FFC's attached to the T-CON and does not respond to the remote or buttons, and the TV appears to continuously re-boot.

                Unhook FFC from left side...

                by Awsmessymail
                Hello all,
I’ve tried to repair TVs in the past with some luck. Toms repair manuals got taken down and now thats a bit harder.
I picked this TV up hoping for a quick fix. When the TV would power on, only the backlights would come on. The owner told me they heard loud screeching before it shut off. This alone makes me want to think the main board has an issue.
As I researched, I found the TCON/driver boards were an issue on this unit. I went in troubleshooting the TCON but found good voltages on the TCON. I followed shop jimmys guide to test the transistors and they seem okay....
