I would be using a 60 watt lamp, not sure how the supply will act with a 25 watt lamp. I would think that the lamp would light with only 200ma of current going through it.
Right, I did follow the video guide of checking the FET, the results I got were what I wrote in the last post. I think even still Im going to get one of those little chinese component testers one day...

Ok, so that being said, the FET checked out bad... Are you saying I might put it back in, change my lightbulb to a 60 watt and try again or am I asking for trouble? When I had the FET in circuit and during the time of the light burning bright, My voltages were dropping (for example I think I remember the 160v on the Drain pad was dropping down (Short circuit symptoms) Unless like you say, everything was getting choked by the 25 watt bulb...

If I were you I would replace the PFC IC also, and use 60 ~ 75W lamp.

I'm not the one testing the parts so can't be sure, replace the fet and ic and see what happens.

Well son of a b*tch... I Put a 53watt bulb in my test cable, put the FET back in, powered it up, checked voltage across the main filter cap and Im looking at right over 400v...

Budm and R_J, you guys are f*cking awesome! I'm the proud owner of a working 11 year old TV.

Just now realizing it doesn't have wall mount attachments...
***EDIT: It does have wall mount attachments, a metal plate on the inside of the plastic back panel, no actual frame work inside... Kinda sketchy...***

Well if it does'nt have wall mounts I guess its junk. See it was'nt that hard after all.
I think almost every flat panel tv has the bolt holes for wall mounting, thats standard

Well, the gamble pays off, I do not like putting the new MOSFET in without replacing IC when finding damaged Gate drive parts and taking a chance of blowing brand new FET which some time can be expensive or hard to get.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

                  by jinu_j
                  Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                  1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                  2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                  3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                  4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

                  LED uplighter dimmer burnt resistor
                  by CG2
I've got a 240v LED uplighter which isn't working. Pulling it apart shows a clearly burnt resistor on the circuit board, and I'm hoping some of you will have suggestions on what to replace it with. First, here are some photos. Power comes in, through the fuse and choke, then through the big blue variable resistor labelled B500K (ignore the similar blue component at the bottom - it's a simple switch for an attached reading lamp). It then passes through the burnt resistor (or at least did once), through diac DB1 and the unburned 30 ohm resistor to the gate of the triac. Now I assume there's a simple...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Need help to identify and to locate a 0.33 ohms fusible resistor for power supply
                  by gica69
I have a quad charger that is split into 4 separate sections and one section doesn’t charge anymore. I have located what I think is a thermistor and on the shrink tube it says 125 degrees C. I cut the shrink tube and it's a 33 ohms resistor. It measures a little less than 1/2 inch in length. I am including pictures of it. Please help me identify it. So, it should test at 0.4ohms and probably go up in resistance with the rise in temp. On the board it clearly says R for resistor. But it has to be a special one.
Resistor shows orange range silver gold and green lines.
                  Thanks in adv...
