    Budm and R_J, you guys are f*cking awesome! I'm the proud owner of a working 11 year old TV.

    Just now realizing it doesn't have wall mount attachments...
    ***EDIT: It does have wall mount attachments, a metal plate on the inside of the plastic back panel, no actual frame work inside... Kinda sketchy...***...

    Well son of a b*tch... I Put a 53watt bulb in my test cable, put the FET back in, powered it up, checked voltage across the main filter cap and Im looking at right over 400v...

    Right, I did follow the video guide of checking the FET, the results I got were what I wrote in the last post. I think even still Im going to get one of those little chinese component testers one day...

    Ok, so that being said, the FET checked out bad... Are you saying I might put it back in, change my lightbulb to a 60 watt and try again or am I asking for trouble? When I had the FET in circuit and during the time of the light burning bright, My voltages were dropping (for example I think I remember the 160v on the...

    Ok so got some measurements, with the mosfet in place, both 33 ohm resistors replaced as soon as I power on the supply it idles for a second, then (shorts/faults) since my 25 watt inline cord lightbulb glows bright for a second or two, then off, then the cycle repeats endless.

    I removed the mosfet, re did the test and no apparent issues, I read pins of the PFC controller and all look ok, except the gate driver pin 7 only shows a steady (no drivewave present at all) 10.5v dc. I was under the assumption that even without the FET present...

    Low and behold, Having the PFC mosfet out, I just tested it with my meter and turns out its bad now... It's not shorted but not passing diode checks.

    Checking out around the PFC circuit again Ive found that both resistors (the burnt looking one) and the one next to it (labeled 330) are reading in the meg ohm range. Based on pictures of good boards it looks like my burnt resister is the same as its neighbor a 330 (33 ohm)

    I see that in my board there is no gate drive transistor like in the schematic...

    Here are some pictures of my measurements (A 100 ohm resistor across ground and PS standby pin 11 of the connector does indeed turn on the PFC controllers VCC)

    These measurements have X066 Mosfet removed. The mosfet I used to replace the shorted original is a FDPF 18N50. I used a website that gave it to me as a cross reference because the original part number was not on digikey if I remember correctly...

    The resistor between the mosfet gate and pin 7 of the PFC controller is burnt looking and measuring 1.2 meg ohm......

    Ok so got some news, I have found that by removing the mosfet I replaced and testing I finally get my 12v on pin 8 of the pfc controller. I need to check that I have a suitable mosfet, (I thought I got a suitable replacement... Also, I have found that the resistor immediately in line of the PFC controller's 7 pin (gate drive for the mosfet?) has what appears to be a burn line down it. I cannot make out the markings. In the schematic R_J has given me it shows to be R110, and value 100R (100 ohm) I am assuming? Now, that being said if I scope pin...

    @Budm I wondered in past instances if there was a way to bypass optocouplers, but because I understood it as a photo resistor/transistor I did not know an actual closed switch symptom happens, thank you for that!

The schematic you are speaking of for the PLCD300P3 pg. 2 is I am assuming in the available service manual. On another note, what is common practice to test an optocoupler that is in circuit? I understand the concept but have never tested one in circuit....

    R_J I am measuring .1v on pin 8 of the L6562, and there is indeed a wire jumper coming from pin 8 and it goes towards that smd transistor you are describing.

    Are you possibly suggesting that I may need to look into what is going on with the standby drive ic?

    Yessir, am sitting in front of it now, tried both ways, no luck. I am probing around in the l6562 part of the circuit (from what I understand about power supplies is this area should provide the high voltage via the P20NM50FP mosfet by switching on and off through a transformer?) anyway, I am not seeing any drive waves in this area coming from the L6562 I replaced, my question is should I?...

    Thank you for the response R_J, I verified that pin 11 does indeed show 5.1v at rest.

    To answer your first question, I do not know if the 5v was present before I replaced any parts, I was given the set by my brother and went from his word that nothing was powering on. I immediately pulled the supply and started visual inspection. Saw the handful of resistors completely burnt, and began meter checking near by obvious mosfets and drive controllers that might be shorted. Not until after I replaced the found bad parts...

    So as an update, i have installed a temporary .1 resistor to do some testing and upon powering up the board both in and out of tv I get 5v output and no 12v output. With these power supplies do I need to short standby pins or anything to get the supply to power on? There's no schematic for the PS board to be found, the only thing I have to go off of is the service manual shows the pinouts of the connector that comes from the ps board. I've attached a screenshot below....

    What is the odds that I can use 1x .1 ohm resistor? If im understanding correctly, the 4x .68ohms in parallel have a total of .17 ohms?

    Could i use a single .1ohm to do testing while I order 4x .68 ohms or am I wrong assuming this will work?...

    R_J, I Have now looked closer at the resistors and it looks like I was wrong, the colors are blue, grey, silver, gold... So .68 ohm... The funny thing is the parts I ordered, the resistors that I thought I ordered 6.8 gigaohms ended up being 6.8 ohm... So even though the order was wrong, Im still wrong again...

    I was reading the colors as blue, grey, grey, gold, and putting it into my electrodroid app.

    Now what do I do... haha....

    Ok I guess that makes some sense. Can anyone tell me what is up with the 4 resistors all running in parallel? They are 6.8g Ohm. Did they just need a 1.7g ohm value and that is the only way to get it? Im not used to seeing that....

    So I removed it from circuit and that's when it measures .983k ohm, in circuit it was .851k.

    So as the others suggest would it hurt if I use a 1k ?...

    Thank you for the response R_J, removed from circuit the resistor reads .983k ohm. It is definately burnt to a crisp, removed and close up if it had a color code band it would be black with no tolerance band.

    What are you seeing that makes you see this board and that schematic similar?...
