Are you sure the cap is bad? it is usually the black square type that bulge that are bad.
This one from digikey would work 495-4767-nd or 399-12622-ND (2kv)

I'm fairly sure it's bad. It appears to be bulging on the sides. However I didn't test it yet. Was trying to identify it first.

That green cap you posted looks ok. it looks original and not bulged, it was never square. I believe that cap that goes bad is on a different power supply board but same location.
Since you never mentioned what the problem is, I suspect there are other issues.
this is what the bad ones would look like

I have seen many polypropylene with same failure in lots of Samsung, look for CI818.

                        Which model?

CI818 seems to point to many different inverter board capacitors... but how is this thing stressed to cause it to bloat like that -- or is it just a capacitor manufacturing QC problem?

Many models, the cap that failed is used for coupling/DC blocking from the Bridge drive to the primary winding of the inverter transformer, or power transformer.

"but how is this thing stressed to cause it to bloat like that" I have no idea, it is needed to be taken apart and analyzed.

Okay that one is a bit more voltage "stressed" - I saw another schematic when I searched for a Samsung CI818 that was a 0.01uF filter capacitor hooked up directly to an input of a LM393 op amp and was wondering how that could possibly be stressed...

                              Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
                              a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
                              c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

                              Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
                              by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...
