Sammy PN50B650. Excellent display cept for 3 thin horizontal lines

Want to confirm that it's a panel issue..

    Things I have checked...

The buffer board connection cleaned and reseated.... The tab bonds off the X-SUS cleaned and reseated.. The connector off the Control board and the LVDS connector between Main Video & Control board cleaned and reseated..

    Missing any other possibility???

Have you checked the last buffer chip for any problems. It does look like either those lines are not being driven or you may still have a ribbon connection problem. Just a thought.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      Thanx for the reply...

Attached is a pic of the last 2 buffer chips.. They look OK, but I don't have the expertise (and likely, the equipment) to check them beyond the visual..

As far as the ribbon connection, do you mean the LVDS cable??

      Thanx again...

Like dick said, check the buffer ic's, I doubt its a bad connection since the ribbon plugs into a socket on the buffer board. Also in your last picture, having that ribbon on the Z-sus side unpluged will have no real effect, all those ribbons on that side of the panel are connected together.
All that is required to check the buffer ic is a meter with diode test

Re: Sammy PN50B650. Excellent display cept for 3 thin horizontal lines

Youtube video helped a lot.. I get no continuity when, as I understand it is a good thing.. I didn't do the diode test because I think I found the issue..

Although it's hard to make out from the pics, it looks like the metal contacts have worn down and are obscured by the plastic housing...

When the TV is powered up, I can't make all the lines disappear, but I can get it down to 1 thin line or a bunch more lines, by rocking the connector slightly to/fro...

Dunno if I have the dexterity to clean/scrape the plastic residue from the contacts.. Barring that, it's likely a buffer board replacement will fix the problem..

did you check the "other end" (ie. the connector that plugs into those connectors on the board. It is likely that those connectors have an issue.

Yea, and I even crimped them a bit to make sure they were making good contact..

I can only assume that the issue is where the tab bonds (for lack of better term) mold into the panel...

There's a rich literature about that around 2010 Samsung plasmas that often has a problem like yours, the lines are not fixable, there's an electrical problem in the buffer board driving, sometimes is broken the buffer sometimes also the y-sus but i suspect the fault comes from a high ripple psu, so if you want to save some money selling the tv with the lines, you can maybe stop the appearing of further lines by checking the el.co., if it worth the pain..

                      by Ihandyrepair
                      Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

Sony XBR-65X750D Horizontal lines bottom of screen
                      by ggil44
Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                      by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...

                      Samsung QE50Q67TAU - horizontal lines
                      by Rubenlily
                      Hello,

First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:

I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.

I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.

I'm no expert but I've done the tape...
