Search the site to find how to run the self test patterns. If the test patterns run OK then it would look like a mainboard faultWilling to help but I'm no expert. -

Can you can post pictures of your boards which would be helpful. It may be integrated on the mainboard.
Does this match your set?

Re: Samsung PN60F5300B colorful panel
Hi dick_barton... link takes me to a search and not a specific page, so I don't know if it's my set or not. I'll send photos tonight, but it would be great if I could get service manual with schematics so I can troubleshoot. Thank youComment

Haven't had a chance to open up this beast.. but looking at the photos, does anyone with Plasma expertise know if this is a main board / Logic board issue?
Menus seem to be fine, it's just video / audio sources are corrupt it seems. The "Test picture" as part of troubleshooting seems to show the same corrupt image. I'll get the boards pictured tonightComment

Re: Samsung PN60F5300B colorful panel
Just shorted 3 and 4 pins, disconnected the LVD Cable.. and I got the full screen colors, white, then red, green, then gradiant, vertical horizontal diagonal.... so on..
So I guess that says it's the main card?? is it a reflow of bga issue, or Flash chip replacement?Last edited by jason123; 04-24-2018, 04:54 PM.Comment

Re: Samsung PN60F5300B colorful panel
It generally points to a faulty mainboard if it runs the self test with the mainboard disconnected and the pins on the control board shorted.
It tends to very hit and miss when heating up the mainboard and often if successful is (but not always) short lived.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Samsung PN60F5300B colorful panel
It may well be but I don't have enough experience to offer further advice on any mainboard fault.
You could try to do a factory reset or a firmware update to see if updating the memory IC's cures the problem.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Samsung PN60F5300B colorful panel
Thanks.. I did the reset and same results. I attempted a firmware update - it reported that there is no valid firmware present (I'm guessing it's because the firmware I have 1006.1 is the same as what it currently has in it)Comment

Suggest you try:
1) www.shopjimmy.com to see if they sell a repair kit for your main board.
2) www.ptselectronicsinc.com to see if they offer a repair service for your board.
3) check eBay and shopjimmy for a price of a new main board.Comment
