HDMI - how to test it

Hi guys,
Do you have any trick how to test HDMI output signal?
E.g. I repair satellite receivers and sometimes HDMI is faulty.
The reason can be CPU or any part on the path from that CPU to HDMI connector.
So I would need a method how to find the culprit. E.g.Is it possible to use an oscilloscope to test a particular signal to HDMI output connector?
Or any other idea?
