Try this:
On PCB search IC fusb252umx ( it is under plate cover) near USB-C connector)
connect pin 3 with 12
and
4 with 11

I flashed KA8G116A.rom but still no correct 5V_EN/3V_EN voltages.
I measured:
5V_EN is 3.28V
3V_EN is 0V
R3926: both sides have 0V
D2012: this diode is missing on the mainboard. Maybe someone else already repaired mainboard or is it a factory modifications?. Is it necessary to be there?
Voltages on D2012- pin 1 - is about 3.3V; pin 2 is 0V
Thanks again for help

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I successfully flashed SIO. But I do not know if the firmware was exactly right for my version of mainboard
I have DH5JV LA-G021P mainboard. Can you please let me know how to check( so that I know)if it is classic Acer thermal protection error? And how to repair it?
Thank you

Aspire 3 and KB9022Q (SIO) chip
I have a problem with +5V ALW and +3V ALW. These voltages are generated by RT6575 IC.
For correct function RT6575 needs 5V_EN and 3V_EN. These values are provide by KB9022Q chip.
I replaced KB9022Q and flashed, yet not 5V_EN and 3V_EN.
My question:
If there is no 5V_EN and 3V_EN , does it mean that I did not flash correct EC( embedded controller firmware) to that KB9022Q?
Or 5V_EN and 3V_EN does not depend on firmware running in KB9022Q?
Thank you for help...Last edited by Jane; 03-06-2024, 06:44 AM.

Did you you find a solution?
I have the problem like you ( to find the culprit.of a short). I injected about 0.9V , upto 5A , the board takes current about 0.6A, yet, temperature of the PCB board is about 31C degrees.
I keep injecting upto 30 minutes, yet no result, regarding heating
I have Asus FA506 ( board DA0BKXMB8D0 Rev: D)

Where is a short if there is not hot spot
Asus FA506 ( board DA0BKXMB8D0 Rev: D) is dead. And .takes about 0.4A when connected to electricity.
I injected about 0.9V, 1.7A to a shorted rail but I could not find a spot with a higher temperature ( neither thermo camera ).
Is it so low current that the heat is dissipated?
Or is that short in CPU or GPU and the heat is easily dissipated ?...

Thank you for replies
Yes, I asked about resistance to ground..
But if there can be such a low resistance 0.1 Ohm, how to repair non working laptop? There are also mosfets and I can consider them being faulty( having such a small resistance). Does it mean I must unsolder each mosfet and test unsoldered one by one?
Or is there a better way?...

What is the lowest acceptable resistance on a coil without considering a short on PCB
I have Asus FA506 ( board DA0BKXMB8D0 Rev: D). Can you please roughly indicate what the lowest resistance I should measure on a coil? I know that a low resistance is allowed on coils in CPU or graphic circuits but can you provide acceptable values of resistance?
Thank you.

What thermal imaging camera do you use?
Can you please recommend a good thermal camera for repairing laptops?
I use Flir E4 but it seems to have a small sensitivity,

Thank you for replies.
At present I have 40" size screen. I have never removed such a large ( at least for me ) screen before. So, is it wise to use suction tools or is there a better way ?

What liquid to use
I would like to repair faulty backlight in Philips TV. In various videos, guys use a liquid before using a suction tool.
Can anyone let me know what kind of the liquid is it? Or what liquid do you use?
Thank you

Yes, I did .
When I keep ON/OFF pressing ( shorting SWK1 ) the voltage fluctuate from about 0.2 to 0.9V

SIO KB9022QD - must be programmed before replacing ?
Anyone knows if ,these days, new KB9022QD must be programmed when replacing faulty SIO in Acer Aspire 3 (dh5jv la-g021p Rev:1) ?Last edited by Jane; 02-07-2024, 07:59 AM.

It is 8.8 kOhm ( pin 4 of PU401 to GND)
Resistance is about 963 Ohm
