Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
You have to do testing to know for sure, I just had a couple bad caps and it presented just like a screwed up panel.

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
Vertical lines are panel faults and typically not repairable. Horizontal lines may be repairable if one side is good (confirmed with the bad side disconnected) using the tape cutoff method.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
I've got this 60 inch Samsung here with some vertical lines in the screen... We moved it and the lines showed up, I have it open but all ribbon cables look good, if I unplug the video board ribbon cable and leave the backlight board on, the screen is lit and lines are gone... If I do the opposite, and shine a light on the screen I can see the video with the lines.. I added a picture, any ideas?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
These don't have a metal frame retaining the panel just outer bezel plastic holding the panel. usually moisture or cleaning fluids get under the bezel and mess up the connections, Last week I fixed a UN50EH6003f that had bars-- I found corrosion on one of the bottom drive strips. I scrubbed the strips with 91% Alcohol with a toothbrush while leaving the set on it's back with the bezel removed. after it dried I tested it running without the bezel and all was ok after 2 days on.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
it is likely a "panel fault" related to the bonded tabs. If the set has tabs along each side, you could try gently pressing on the tab associated with the line to see if things change (unlikely but never know). If it does, then possibly putting some pressure padding on it, may help. If not, then there are plenty of posts about this type of failure whereby people removing the tabs along the bad side... NOTE: this process is a "one way" method and can not be reversed so be sure to read, read, read before going down that route to make sure that you understand your problem and possibly alternatives (if any) as tv designs are different across various sets / types / makers.Leave a comment:

Really need to lay it flat on it's back so you can easily do this by yourself. Table is necessary or bench.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
yeah im leaning toward the tab itself...i'll be back at it tonight...i really need another set of hands in here to hold the set while i test stuff....60 with no stand is tough with 1 person in a crowded garage lol..Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
The tabs on the side are "COF" chips. Chip on film. They got the same kind of function as the ones on top.
If the ones on top fail you usually get vertical lines , applying some pressure on the tabs make the lines go away ( temporary ).
When the side tabs fail you get horizontal lines or no picture at all. What you need to do is apply pressure on the side tabs/panel , probably the one on top of the side tabs. Maybe bend the tabs with your finger. The bezel itself probably bends the area of the failed COF.
Dont they get hot? It is something you need to figure out yourself....it is not measurable. If you remove the failed COF chip the picture will be ok and you can do it while the tv is on. It looks like a curtain that opens... very cool to watchLeave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
your problem is that you need to isolate which side is the issue. At the bottom of the set, the edge boards are "interconnected" with clampable flex cables. Look along each side of the bottom and disconnect the flex cable clamp / cable at that point. Does the remaining picture clear up? Repeat the "test" on the opposite bottom "half".... any difference? Go from there.
PS. you still didn't follow my suggestion of putting up a known test pattern. :-(Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
The shiny part not touching the glass loses the picture, with finger pressure no bezel, touching the glass brings back the picture, but doesn't affect the lines... I was hoping a simple shim work around, but it's puzzling for sure... On the inside of the bezel is what looks like metal tape all the way around, does that need to be in contact with tabs? Is it possible when pushing on bezel and the tape makes contact it fixes the issue?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung un60eh6003f horizontal lines
Weird indeed. So pushing on tabs at the glass edge does nothing, ok try this, you see the shiny mirror elongated ic's on those tabs? put something non conductive under those ic's like a rubber drawer bumper or wood even for this test and apply pressure carefully on the topside and see if it makes any difference sometimes those ic's will start to detach from the printed circuit. Pressure on ic like a sandwich.Last edited by heavymachines; 10-19-2017, 05:37 PM.Leave a comment:

by x_orange90_xI posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.
The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went... -

by x_orange90_xI just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.
I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying... -

by blaster_Less than a year out of warranty, samsung UE49MU6105K craps out, they've got this designed obsolescence down to an exact science of self destruct when out of warranty...
Screen started to show horizontal lines and ghosted image at the bottom, then turned off by itself. Did software update, to no avail of the line problem, and got a boot loop after some minutes of watching TV. This boot loop will turn on the backlights for some seconds the sound comes on, the image will turn dark very fast and then it reboots again. Pressing power button will not put it on standby. Disconnecting... - Loading...
