I have 3 of the same model tv and a 32" version of the same series tv with this same issue.. a few blue horizonatal lines at the very to and the screen slowly fades to white.. anyone ever figure it out? Its not loose or dirty ribbon cables.

Thanks guys been busy, I will try to do more testing this week.
I did manage to repair a 55" samsung smart tv that had a bad side bonding tab by removing all the tabs on one side of the panel just like the popular fix with the sharp/vizio common failures. wish I knew it worked on other larger panels sooner..Leave a comment:

I have had failed tcon boards especially on the vizio and sharp sets cause the same symptoms but was hoping there was a voltage I could look and test for on the tcon to troubleshoot further.

you mean main board right? all the hdmi and component and even vga inputs are on the main board. the pc looks like it was just added as an option. taking photos now. the unplugged wires o the main board are the speakers and 24v amp power for the speakers....Last edited by augiedoggy; 04-05-2018, 06:11 AM.Leave a comment:

The pc is fine actually, booted it up and connected it to another monitor... its a win 7 stand alone micro pc that plugs into the touchescreen via usb behind the covers and has front mount usb inputs. the monitor has other inputs too though to use it with other sources.
I'll try to get some picvs up later today.

yes I have access to the main board, no wifi that I could see except on the windows pc which I tried unhooking. the tv powers on and off fine but other than that I dont know, theres no menu on the screen and I have no way of knowing the input its on. the speakers are unplugged from the main board and I have to repair the plug for them to connect to it. someone removed the rear cover in a attempt to repair it before me. and left it unplugged. it appeared to have gotten caught...Last edited by augiedoggy; 04-04-2018, 05:32 AM.Leave a comment:

need help on a molyboard 65" touchscreen
So I found this 65" touchscreen at our local recycling dropoff, complete with windows 7 pc built in. the issue is the backlight comes on but noting but a black screen. my first thought is maybe it uses a crappy sharp panel which took out the t-con. the panel is buried pretty deep behind a lot of aluminum it seems and I havent tried to get to it yet. the T-con board is a chimei innolux and the part number is 417u63ect3511g20603005. even scanned the barcode= nothing
It does have the more common "tpt mv-0e88441" and 94-0 1502 1001/t18 Google isnt showing me anything... I cant...Last edited by augiedoggy; 04-03-2018, 06:08 AM. -

I did not remove any of the side tabs.. didnt see how those could cause a dark spot isolated in the center like that. The owner is going to use it the way it is.. if I remove the side tabs it will likely dramatically shorten the life as most of these repaired sets die in months from doubling the load to the remaining tabs=it seems.Leave a comment:

I have the same set as I mentioned in the other thread and also made the mistake of replacing the power board... for me though I was able to unplug the inverters and the set powered on with the light on the main board.. then by plugging in the inverter boards one by one I found #3 is bad although it looks fin.. likely a bad mosfet....Leave a comment:

Is the OPC light flashing too? the lights should give you an error code... I have the same model set and the #3 inverter board (there are 4 boards) is bad... I get the opc light flashing once and the power light flashes twice, Once with the opc light and once without.. the book said its a power supply fault but it wasnt.. unplug #3 inverter and the set powers up for a few second (without holding any buttons)... plug it back in and the set just clicks on and off..Last edited by augiedoggy; 12-08-2017, 03:29 PM.Leave a comment:

I use the led from the many failed LG strips I have laying around but ive bought new ones on ebay too.. makes no difference. once one fails the chances of more being stressed by the voltage change are high and others will likely fail in the near future.. I have this same model set Ive repaired twice so far... best way to fix it is replace all the strips.

I use a smd rework heat gun and heat from the back of the strip, that said Ive had a number of these sets come right back to me months later because once an led fails , if it shorts closed it increases voltage to all the rest in the series and although they worked fine when I replaced the bad ones , The damage was done it seems and they fail shortly after even with the backlighting set down.
Its gotten to the point where I wont warranty them unless im buying all new led strips.
