Hey guys, so I was give a VIZIO XVT3D650SV 65" tv. The indicator light blinks for awhile upon initially plugging it in. After it finishes what i believe is its boot sequence I can push the power button and the indicator light turns from amber to white signalling that its on. However I get no picture no backlight. I can press the power button again and the indicator light wont change until unplugged. I pulled the tv apart and noticed that when the T-Con board is unplugged from the LED driver board (Appears to be a 10 pin wire connector) I get backlight on the entire TV. But as soon as this cable is plugged back in nothing. So I ordered a replacement T-Con board (used) swapped it and same exact issue. I'd rather get some advice on troubleshooting before swapping another board. I'm not sure where to go from here any help is appreciated.

Re: VIZIO XVT3D650SV T-Con board Causes LEDs to turn off. HELP!
Odd design. Never seen a t con control led boards before. You're getting backlight after you disconnect t'con from led driver board correct? I suspect possible short in panel itself as it seems to be common problem with 65" sets or bigger to be more specific side drivers being shorted. You can try this test,,, disconnect the flat ribbons to panel from tcon and turn on then connect each ribbon 1 at a time each side see if you get a partial picture. There is another risk if the panel is shorted it can damage the tcon voltage regulators. you have 4 flat ribbons going to panel so try none then one at a time for each side.Last edited by heavymachines; 10-13-2017, 06:10 PM. -
Re: VIZIO XVT3D650SV T-Con board Causes LEDs to turn off. HELP!
That makes more sense. He did say however he got backlight to come on by disconnecting red plug from tcon to led drivers and it came on but since i never worked on anything bigger than 60 inches i can't say, just from reading about bad panels on 65'inchers and bigger. This is interesting anyhow.Comment

Re: VIZIO XVT3D650SV T-Con board Causes LEDs to turn off. HELP!
The connector on T-OCN with red wires is for backlights local dimmimg(for that faked 100K:1 Contrast ratio), so if the dimming control lines stay low there will be no backlights even if the BL-ON is present, you need BL-ON and Dimmimg control signals to get backlights. It is still possible the replacement T-CON is bad.
Since he can get the lights source to be on so if the T-CON and main board is good then he should see images on the screen.
OP did not say if he gets Voltage to run the T-CON board or not.

Re: VIZIO XVT3D650SV T-Con board Causes LEDs to turn off. HELP!
Hey guys, Sorry for the delayed response as I left for work for a couple months. While trouble shooting I ended up frying the main board ( I think). Lesson learned be very careful when troubleshooting with power on! Thank everyone for the help though! I ended up just parting it out. Onto my next project which is converting a 52" Sharp LCD to LED. Wish me luck.Comment

Hi,
I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... -
by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by EazyBoneGot this TV free. Guy said it tries to turn on and doesn't. I haven't seen this specific issue before but shown in video. Any way to test the screen to rule it out on these Vizio? Or anyone seen this issue before?
Any help appreciated
