VIZIO 60" E60-C3 Bad Single LED In Each Strip

One of the more exciting aspects of TV repair, at least for me, is repairing bad LED strips.. Mostly in LGs..

Having to pull a display panel off of a 60" LED adds a whole new degree of difficulty..

The symptom is an LED TV that blinks on, then off very quickly... Once I eliminate a power PCB issue, it's invariably an LED strip problem..

But usually it's a single strip that is bad. In some instances, 2 or more... Replace them and everything is copacetic...

But this Vizio has something I have never seen before..

This Vizio has a bad single LED in each strip. The picture has the bottom set cut off, but it's the same thing. A single LED does not come on..

Conventional wisdom says that I have to replace the entire array... But I wanted to get some confirmation that, because a single LED from each strip has gone out, there isn't any other factor at work here...

The factor at work? Shit Chinese LEDs that last about a thousand hours before popping. The other LEDs are still lighting because the LEDs failed short circuit instead of open circuit.

If you look at the bottom side of the strip, do you dark brown area due to heat where the LEDs are on top?

So, in other words, nothing out of the ordinary??

Re: VIZIO 60" E60-C3 Bad Single LED In Each Strip

Upon closer examination, I did confirm that an entire strip is now bad..

I coulda swore it was good initially, but it's possible I missed it..

But if I switch it out, it's likely I'll still have a bad LED on each strip...

Most of the bad strip that I found with shorted LED or over driven will have dark brown area showing the sign of over heat.

Hmm, E60-C3 is the TV model number, I wonder who makes the LCD panel.

The serial number on the panel sticker would lead me to believe it's a Sharp. Strictly guessing.

                          UPDATE..

I got in 2 replacement LED strips..

On the plus side, the LEDs DO stay on...

On the down side, several of them blink and then go off...

Looks like I'll be replacing the entire LED array

Thanx to all for the replies...

                            UPDATE II...

Got the replacement LED strips in and I can report complete success... Maybe...

All the LED strips come on and stay on.. No bad LEDs in the array...

                            BUT...

At power-up, all the strips come on bright and steady.. After 10-20 secs, some strips dim and some strips don't.

I have seen this before on other TVs I have broken down where the whole array will dim after a few seconds or so, but never seen it go piecemeal like this..

Is this possibly some sort of screen-saver process?? Or am I looking at a Power PCB issue??

I suspect you're seeing regional dimming of a "No Signal" box floating around the screen.
Common, and the effect looks awful, but it lets the mfgr claim some stupid contrast ratio performance figures which aren't even remotely realistic.

I can not find anything that adds to cart... on any item?

                                          Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

Well, I'm kinda on a roll having fun fixing LED TVs. I have a question for those who have wandered into the arena of fixing your own LED strips. I bought a "cooker" on Amazon whereby it heats the strip so you can extract the LEDs. I successfully rebuilt the 10 of 16 that were bad. BUT - when I put the TV back together at certain times (white screen is really noticeable), I see what I would call a halo effect coming from some of the LEDs. The soldering station discolored the strip where I was working immediately.

Have any of you encountered this and if so what caused it?...

they are not in stock and other places sell used ones so i would like to find some replacement led.

my led tester say 2.6v but i assume it is off and those are 3v.

is there standard led used on those LG bran strip?

                                          220v Led strip flickering

Hi, I am installing a long led strip and I noticed that it frequently flickers slightly, it is not a strong nor regular thing, but it is noticeable and annoying. I have measured the voltage of the mains and it shows some fluctuations, it normally stays at around 226v, but often (every few seconds) drops down to 218/219v), and the flickering happens exactly at the same time. I have measured this at the counter and with every appliance off, so it's not related to the house electrical system, but that's how it comes from the supplier.
I know that the best solution would be to get a voltage...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...
