If the tv is cold and has been unplugged for several days it will power up fine, but after a short time goes down to backlights only. The VIZIO front light stays bright. The power board and the regulator on the main board test good. I took a can of dust spray and I knew if it was upside down it would putout cold propane gas. I tried cooling down some components. In the picture see the heat sink on the far left side of the board cover with metal with holes in it. I marked it with a yellow arrow. When I cooled that part down the set came right on. Does anyone know what the function of that component is and what I might do to correct the problem? Re-solder perhaps? I have not found an drawing of that board so it is hard to know where to go from here. The board number is CBPF9D1KZ4. BTY this forum is fantastic!

Seems to me a reflow of the BGA chip or a rework will do the trick.Comment

Re: VIZIO VT420M Power up issue
Okay I decided to take the metal cover off and heated the heat sink to melt the glue holding it on. So this is the processor in fact it says AMD on it so it must be. From the top I don't see any soldered connections. I see connections on the underside of the board. How should I go about reflowing the connections?Comment

Re: VIZIO VT420M Power up issue
I tried reflow on the back of the board or the underside of the suspect chip. It did not work. Looking at the top of the chip where the part number are there are no visible soldered connections. That's why I heated the other side for reflow. It was when I super cooled the heatsink that tv set came on normally. Cloud it be the chip that is bad?Comment

Re: VIZIO VT420M Power up issue
I found a process for DIY reflowing here on the forum. Remanufactured main boards for this are $125 plus shipping and no one has replacements in stock. Ebay has none either. $125 is more than the set is worth, so I'll give this a shot. When I heated the underside I only I think it got just hot enough to make it worse. This process will evenly heat top and bottom to a predetermined temp.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by SoulzinkHi everyone,
I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a
I have followed one thread (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ingmachine-rel... -
by notallbadOriginally the tv arrived with dimmed backlights (not failed leds) but everything else worked ok. Adjusting backlight in menu did nothing but voltage changed on dimming control pins,
0% p_dim at 1.65v and a_dim at 1v
50% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 1.65v
100% p_dim at 3.3v and a_dim at 2.88v
Changed backlight leds anyway as always like to have complete peace of mind they wont fail shortly after selling the tv. No change as expected!
Leds are 2 rows of 15 6v leds.
On inspection of the power board found diode MBR3200 shorted so replaced with...6 Photos -

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...5 Photos -
by sam_sam_samI did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow
This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board
