    Samsung PN50B450 sparking screen

    Hi experts,

I've never seen something like this before. There are sparks inside the screen near the X board. When I remove metal plate under the mainboard that connects chassis to outer metal frame the sparks occure between these two. Nice lightshow.

There is a black shadow on the upper left corner (slow mow pixelisation effect) similar to the attached pic.
VS/VA, 15V are ok. No cold solder joints, apparently no faulty component on x-main.

What should be the signal like on the flatcables towards the screen? What can be measured there?

    Thanks for any ideas

someone else had a similar problem once, but i can't remember on what model.

he ended up replacing the insulated foam tape that goes on the inside of the outer glass frame and it sorted his problem out.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

It sounds like a very similar problem. I'll check it out.

I still have the dark left picture though which looks more like a X-Main fault but couldn't find anything wrong with it yet.

Here we go disassembling a Plasma panel...

              Re: Samsung PN50B450 sparking screen

The panel is toast. There is a conductive grid inside/underneath the glass where the flat cables from X-Main come. This grid is largely interrupted and this is where the sparks fly from one side to the other.

At least I learned something, e.g. that the inside of the protection glass is conductive Could be used for some project maybe

You can see it in the video here:

didn't know that was your youtube account.

are you sure that you can't insulate it between the arcing points?

The X-main cables go to the grid, then the grid is interrupted, the other side of the grid not being accessible. There is nothing I can do unfortunately.

                      Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                      by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
                      by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

                      by Kiberge
                      HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Samsung UN50NU7400 - No Picture (but boot screen and screensaver)
                      by arbitarytwist
Have a Samsung UN50NU7400 which shows a boot screen and a screen saver if left on long enough but no picture ?

Would a moving screen saver confirm that the panel is ok or it could still be a panel issue ?
