Sanyo dp42848 - T-Con or LCD Panel Problem?

I have a Sanyo DP42848 with a picture problem. With the original T-CON I get no image on the screen, and with a replacement, I get what you see in the attachments.
I'm thinking T-CON because with the new board, I at least get something. I've checked all of the tab bonds, and nothing changes when I apply pressure.
Is it the panel or the T-CON?

There are 2 ribbons going from the T-con to the LCD. Disconnect one leave the other connected and retest. Then the same thing again with the other ribbon disconnected and the first one plugged in. See what happens to the screen.

Re: Sanyo dp42848 - T-Con or LCD Panel Problem?

Here's is what I have now. From the front of the TV, with the left side ZIF ribbon cable disconnected (affects right side of screen) Image4. With the right side disconnected, Image5. With both connected, Image7, but then, Image8. I've lost the image altogether.
One thing I forgot to mention is when I had an image, the right side of the screen was really 'slow'. That is, the image would linger and fade slowly away. If you had it just showing 'no signal', the 'no signal' image would jump around the screen normally, but when it was on the right side of the screen, it would fade away really slowly. On the left side of the screen, it would blink out quickly. I know the TCON is responsible for 'timing'. Does that indicate a timing problem? Also, the main IC in the TCON is getting too hot to touch.

I am not convinced that this is a tcon problem yet. You may have a bad tab bond on the LCD itself. That also can explain the low refresh rate. Squeeze the frame firmly where the affected area is. You may have to take the TV apart and get at the individual tab bonds. Also youtube "tab bonds" etc.

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
                    by kca
                    Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
                    by iglitare
                    Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

                    Lenovo T580 - LCD Panel problem - error 0288
                    by perzyk23
                    Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....
