HP Omnibook XE3 - LCD TFT issue

    Quick Q

This laptop has a Samsung LT141X7-124 panel
Traced a fault to a bad power cable to inverter - replaced

    Now have video

However, some pixels are coloured red on fills of screen artefacts
such as bold lettering (some pixels red instead of correct colour)
Grass on the screen background with the Suse 9.2 Live CD has
    some parts coloured red.

    Hmmm.

    What does this point to?
    Failed panel?

I will try to reseat the signal cable that came with the panel.
As it happens, I do have another of these cables in hand also.

    Any advice, insight appreciated

    Thx

Re: HP Omnibook XE3 - LCD TFT issue

This was a simple fix in the end.

I reseated the panel signal cable that came with the LCD.
I removed and replaced twice to wipe the contacts.

The problem with red pixel ghosting and artefacts persisted.
Replaced the panel signal cable with another.
    This fixed the issue.

Unsure as to what is wrong with the faulty signal cable (yet).

However, the replacement signal cable definetly has a better
phy. connection at the panel end than the faulty one.

When I get time, I will inspect the faulty cable to determine fault.

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
      by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

      Hi

The TV seem to start ( blinking green) but goes into blinking red. No display and or backlight. Full view photo.

      Actions :

      1. Disconnected Panel's Right, 2nd, board : TV comes ON (steady green , no blinking red )
1a. You can see in two photos the B/W screen , fading blue "HDMI12" , and the wierd sides of the image, like an old CRT.
Obviously the fault is from or on the Right, secondary board

      2. I taped the Flex tracks, ~2 tracks at a time- see Photo. The issue seems to be on the V lines (Assuming Data...

LG 75UN8570AUD panel issue fixed with tape.
      by triplefour
I've been seeing a lot of the new TVs (samsung and LG only i think) maybe 1-2 years old suffering from sudden panel death and have been over 50% successful bringing them at least most of the way back to functionality if not all the way, with the tape masking of the LVDS pins method.
add this one to the list. the issue was on the left side of the panel and i ended up blocking just 3 pins on the connector that joins the two panel boards that make up the left side of the panel (it has 4 boards total) i didnt get the picture back to 100% perfect. i spent hours fiddling with which pins to block...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
      by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
