    Sharp Aquos TV Model LC-65LE654U Keeps Restarting

    Hello;

    My sharp TV Model LC-65LE654U just keeps restarting. It starts, I can see the SHARP logo, the logo disappears, the tv stays on for about 40 seconds, and then restarts again. None of the buttons are responsive so I can not turn it off or on, change input, change volume or channel. So the whole TV is unresponsive, but it just keeps restarting after being on for about 40 seconds. Can anyone help me out?

    Thank you

    Well, I did some research and found that they used a combination of Rubycon, Sanyo, and Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors in the supply. The power supply looks decently made as well, so I'm surprised if that's the issue. However, there's two kinds of board, one has all those good caps, the other one has those caps, and then a lot of shit ones I can't recognize the brand on them, they're neon yellow.

    You're gonna have to open the TV up to see if you can access the PSU board and video processor board. Are you up to the task?

    Please make sure: The unit has been powered down for at least 24 hours.

    You are equipped with the proper tools and work area to work on it in so you can organize everything.

    Make sure to watch a few tutorials on the disassembly of this unit before attempting this, cover the display with a towel to prevent scratches, also use adequate padding.

    Now, if you're going to open this, you'll see the board will be on the back of the display, look for any capacitors that are bulged on the top that could also be leaking that look like this:

    I found on youtube as well there's a lot of videos on how to repair these TVs, so I would recommend you look there.

    Let us know how you fare!

    Also, you're doing this at your own risk, don't do anything you feel uncomfortable with.

      Thank you for your quick reply. I took the tv apart and everything appears to be good. I included some pictures of the power board. I do have the yellow capacitors. Do you think they are bad?

        I fixed it. Thank you for your reply and help. I saw on YouTube how someone reinstalled the firmware to solve it, and it worked for me. All the buttons work now and the tv is as good as new!!

          Good to hear that worked for you, if you have any other problems with it that might be capacitor related, feel free to post.

          Edit: I don't like those neon SamYoung capacitors, but if it works it works and I'm not gonna complain. They seem to be from a cancelled series of capacitor, I can't find them in any current production datasheets, so I'm going to take a wild guess they're not in production anymore.

                Load the firmware to fat32 formatted usb stick and install it to the side usb port. Plug the tv in and wait until the screen lights up and says "Thanks for buying a Sharp TV".

                Make sure you rename the file to install.img Done.
