Toshiba 50L1400UC Blinking Backlight - replace LED strip?

I have a Toshiba 50L1400UC on my desk that is not working properly. After running for 3-5 minutes the backlight begins to blink on and off about once a second. I see a similar thread on here for a 50L3400U which I believe is quite similar internally. Many other people showed up in the thread, including at least one with a 50L1400UC with the same issue.

Each time it was suggested that the LED strip may be defective and should be replaced but nobody in that thread did so or if they did they never reported back to say whether it fixed the problem or not. By chance does anybody who had this problem have an update?

I'm quite competent at monitor repair but have never tacked any displays over 27" - this 50" panel looks daunting. Any advice for tearing down the panel itself to extract the backlight element? Should I do it LCD up or down? Any special techniques to getting it apart without damaging the panel?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! I'm going to be opening the case over my lunch hour today and will inspect and post pictures of my boards just in case something is obviously wrong there.

I would be looking at the back lights too. What you can try before disassembling the LCD is to turn the back lights down to next to nothing and see if the back lights stay on longer.
As for taking LCD screens apart, there are plenty vids on that on youtube.

I don't have the remote but have been told it stays on longer if the brightness is turned down.

I have stripped the TV down to the panel and now need to get the LCD off the inner layers. With computer monitors this is easy but lifting apart a 50" screen looks pretty scary. I'll take a dig through youtube videos and see if I can find a good tutorial on separating the layers without breaking the LCD itself.

Unfortunately I found no bad or suspect caps on the power board so I'm continuing the disassembly to get a part number off the backlight. The panel is an Innolux V500HJ1-ME1 Rev. C2.

If the back lights stay on longer when they are turned down, you do have a LED problem.

Maybe you were looking at my thread that i started in July of 2016. I finally dug into the TV since the blinking occurred even after i turned the brightness down below the 50% mark.

Did you ever get any progress on this TV? THis thread just went dead.

I ordered a new LED driver chip. See latest posts from Oct 21st, 2017: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=673092

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Dear community, I want to increase the lifespan of my backlight led in my TV by decreasing the current.

However I need some help identifying the resistor I need to replace to achieve this.

Sony XBR-75X950G seems dead with a black screen but backlight and sound is working and no blinking red lights
            by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.
