Re: Panasonic Viera GT55 Plasma
Hi ,
What model are we talking about? 55GT30 or 55GT50? Big difference in boards!!!
Please take pictures of the boards inside. Upload them via "advanced" and the paperclip function.
If you don't have any standby led you either have a bad power supply OR mainboard. Because of the loud pop im almost certain it's the power supply but you never know.
The GT/VT50 use the same power supply , its a big yellow one. Please measure for 5V standby on the big white connector going to the mainboard. If you have 5V there and there is no standby led then your mainboard is dead. ?I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!Comment

Re: Panasonic Viera GT55 Plasma
Ok , good chance only the power supply boards are bad. Worst case scenario is that it took the SC board out also. <-- hard to find but easy to repair with the right components.
Remove all the power cables from the Sub board going to the big power supply board. Only the mains are connected to sub board and measure the following:
Measure the outer pins on P55 in AC VOLTAGE ( Pin 1 and 3 ) --> Must be 120V for USA.
Measure the outer pins on P51 in DC VOLTAGE --> Probably starts at +/-50/60v and counts down because its not connected to the PS.
Ps , use a screw on the board as ground. Let me know what you measure.
Measure the fuse on the top side of the power supply , is it still ok? Right next to that fuse are 2 fets , Q301 and 302.
Both are "R6015ANX" , turn the power supply upside down so your looking at the back of the powersupply.
On the back you will find the same Q301 and Q302. Measure the outer pins in diode/continuity mode first. Beep is definitely bad! If you don't hear a beep then put the black prope on middle pin and red on the outer pins. If one of the outer legs beeps its bad.
These sets also work with the power supply from a 50inch model. ( TNPA5426 ) Not recommended but it works.
Tell me what you measure!Last edited by Moreno83; 01-09-2017, 01:34 PM.I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!Comment

Re: Panasonic Viera GT55 Plasma
Looking at the pictures it looks like your standby controller is failed, there are some signs of burning around the top left heatsink.
These are good sets and shouldn't be chucked out for an OLED unless the damage is fatal. They are pretty reliable, this failure was probably bad luck or a power surge. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic Viera GT55 Plasma
The panel will last for a long time , they are amazing tv's.
Dont forget to replace or tighten all the screws on all boards. They will be loose.I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!Comment

Re: Panasonic Viera GT55 Plasma
Yes it's very important before you put the set back together as these sets were sometimes shipped from the factory with incorrectly torqued screws. When the screws go loose it can damage the SC board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by badcappoHello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
Diode D301 shorted
Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown
I have not found a circuit diagram. Maybe someone here already dealt with a similar issue? Thanks for tips where else to check 😀... -
by jm1234Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults... -
by stecosHi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.
Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.

by clooI recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.
So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...01-06-2025, 06:02 AM -
by AlicatHello,
Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.
Model number is TH-50PZ85U
Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.
Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.
I also hear a few clicks.
I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.
Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...10-30-2024, 10:09 AM - Loading...
