LG LED TV diagnostic help please

    Hi,

I have an LG 65UF950V LED TV on the bench. The fault symptoms are that the set will power up to the LG screen and immediately then the display goes black. We have two or three blinks on the front power LED as it is doing this although it is not clear how many it would normally emit.

With much pressing of buttons on the remote it has intermittently started up - I would say about 1 in 20 attempts although there is no consitency. When it has started up it has functioned normally. There have been other occassions when the cursor from the smart remote comes on the screen which can be moved around but nothing else.

Software has been updated and reset.

The boards look fine to me but I can source mainboard, PSU, T-Con etc but am a bit hesitant about where to start. My gut instincts were to replace the mainboard.

Any thoughts/advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Matt

what are the mainboard and power supply board numbers? we can then look for common issues etc and run some tests but as above post please upload some good clear pictures of the boards used in your tv one showing all the boards and how there connected and one of each board used in your tv please remember we have not got the tv in front of us we use the information you provide to us.

its firmware issue, LG pushed new update this month, download it and update your TV, after update done, dont forget go to setting and reset it to factory and let it new system install ch. etc.

              Hi,

Thanks very much for all the replies.

It terms of the firmware I updated that to the latest firmware and reset etc but will give that another go now.

Unfortunately the TV is not in warranty.

The PSU board number is EAY63709401 and the mainboard is EBT63494402.

I will try to work out how to post pictures that I have taken of the boards but I am not sure it will let me as a new member.

I do appreciate the problems of remote diagnostics and thank you for the replies.

You can use the advanced option and choose the paperclip function. Upload the pictures.

Did you reset the tv to the factory settings after firmware update?

                  Hi,

I have re-flowed some of the joints on the PCB although nothing looked obvious to me and it was to no effect.

I have been unable to get the TV up to the menus to try the reset again but it was reset I cannot remember whether before or after the update though.

I have taken photographs of the boards and detail of the PSU.

                  Thank you again

also when you first tun on LG Logo show on the screen, then screen go black. LED indicatore at the front of TV blinked 3 time .. right?

you have on the PWB small green light near the section of going to backlight sockets.. did it turn on green ? or not.

did your backlight keep on after the LG show on the screen... yes or not ?

                        Hi

                        Thanks for the message.

When power is applied to the TV the red standby light comes on. Pressing the standby button on the remote brings up the LG logo for about 1 second then the screen goes black but there is a faint glow from the TV so maybe the backlight is still on. At the same time there are three flashes from the standby light. The cursor from the magic remote will come on the screen and move around the screen with the display lighting where it is pointed but it seems now to be unable to do anything more than that. The LED on the power supply board was off at all times.

                        Thank you

                        Matt

firmware issue ( Main Board )

before you replace main board try to use apk from google play Smart remote on galaxsy S5 as it had RF sender or any android mobile had RF sender.. when set up LG TV on the apk. use command IN_STOP it will reset it to virgin state

                                by Mirenia
                                Hi everyone,

I've got a little "problem child": my Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1, which had a faulty mainboard.
I replaced it, but ever since, the touchscreen no longer works — and honestly, I’m running out of ideas…

In Windows Device Manager, I just see an I2C HID Device with error code 10. Sporadically, the touchscreen is recognized correctly for just a few seconds, but I haven’t been able to determine under which circumstances this happens.

The touchscreen also doesn’t work in UEFI/BIOS, although it’s enabled...

                                Hello,
I have an old MASTER TL-240 LED TV. Since it stopped working and it had a DVB-T receiver that is being dismissed in Italy, I've decided to replace the mainboard with a DVB-T2 one.
The original problem was that when switching on the TV, the power LED was transitioning from red to steady blue, without showing video or audio.
After checking some voltages on the power supply board (HKL-240101-B Rev. 1.4, HKL from now on) someone suggested me to replace the mainboard.
Now I have some doubts about how to connect the new mainboard to the old power supply.

I have a Vizio M43-C1 stuck in a reboot loop with no backlight.

I've tested all the voltage rails coming out of the power supply and they are "normal" for this model (PS_ON & DIM go high when turned on, BL_ON & 3D_ON are close to zero due to backlight power flowing through the mainboard, 5VSB is 5V, and 12V is 19V, which is apparently normal for this board).

Basically, I get similar results to Garry in this post: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80346

So, I've ruled out the PSU for now.

I have a QN65QN90A which was purchased around launch I guess making it about 1.5-2 years old... had been working fine until a few days ago, simply went black and would no longer turn on (at all). No standby light and no typical PSU relay click etc. Absolutely dead.

Pulled it apart without doing much research first, suspecting the power supply as it had a faint buzz (I guess due to the forthcoming found short), investigated PSU for some time and concluded there was no fault that I could spot with the board removed.

Came to learn after a bit more research...
