Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
Ok thanks. I know how to get to the top boards, I will have a look on YouTube at repair videos because there is a guy "norcal" and believe and I think I have seen him talk about replacing one of them.Comment

Hmmm guess not repearable
I'm wondering if it could be the small section of ribbon from The t-con to the top circuit board.
I will try switching the left and right cables to see if the problem follows the cablesComment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
Yep, although i might spend some time online today looking if i can find the small ribbon cables that go from the IC driver boards to the t-con... because even if i lift the black tab on the t-con on the left ribbon, that side goes white and the other side picture returns...
so i think its got somthing to do with the connection between that cable and the tcon.
and because i had tried 2x t-cons in that TV, im my mind, its unlikely to be a faulty t-con connector... more the ribbon / pressure. but i agree, if i spray that cable with freeze spray while its faulting, and if it returns to working, i will be sure of that.
Is it safe to spray while the tv is operational? because like i said earlier, if i turn the tv off and back on again, its generally working for a few minutes....
Is the spray actually liquid? or just very cold air ?Comment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
first ribbon cable can be inspected with magnifier to check the end cold pins not broken or they go to side. also no need to spend time searching if they are fine.
cool spray are air spray can be applied when the TV switched on. no worries .. just little on part it will frozen it to go back as its first start.Last edited by Diah; 11-29-2016, 04:19 PM.Comment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
At this point, i am thinking the issue is now down to
- LCD Panel bonds (the TFT driver chip)
or
- The flex cable that joins between the TFT Driver circuit board and the T-con board.
Last night, i got home turned tv on.... and of course when i want it to be faulty, it behaves itself.
I am wanting it to become faulty, then use the freeze spray just on the ribbon where it connects to the tcon to see the results.Comment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
I have the same model TV which gets random Horizontal and vertical lines making up a blurry image after a few minutes on Digital TV and HDMI (sound is fine all the time). All voltages measure fine 13V is a around 13.7 on pin 21 of Power supply board.
if power cord or LVDS cable to TCON board was quickly pulled out and put back in within 2-3 seconds i get perfect picture few more minutes. Can that still be the panel ?Comment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
I sold the tV because i could not get it working with everything i tried.
The panel from what everyone tells me is the most expensive part and that is where it makes it not worth repairing.
But i believe you could part the boards out and still make some money off it if its confirmed that its a panel fault.Comment

Re: Samsung LA46S81BDX/XSA - Lines after 5 mins, restart... fine for another 5 mins
budm good suggestions and thanks for your contribution. I think I isolated it down to the panel. When I had the panel running facing up without the metal frame it works perfectly. So the electronics are fine. The panel tabs are fine too because they don't interfere when touched/cooled. It seems I have a fault in the LCD itself.Comment

by RubenlilyHello,
First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:
I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.
I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.
I'm no expert but I've done the tape... -
by jeyoung12Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):
This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!
So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with... -
