Vizio E320_B0E logo flashes then goes dark.

Hello all, I got this TV from a friend that was throwing it out but I took it instead.

He advises that it would flash and then the screen would turn off however there was still sound. I was able to duplicate the issue easily.

I do believe it is something with the backlighting or the eeprom. You can turn the TV on under a bright light and see things on the set moving as well as the menus.

I'm not too sure where to go from here. Caps looked good.

Backlight issue. Check voltage on pin marked Backlight ON_OFF on the power board, to determine if it is an inverter/LED or main board issue.

    A working TV? How boring!

Thank you for replying. I tested the Backlight pin and received a constant 3.3V.

So the mainboard is sending the BL-ON signal.
Now check the voltage going to the Leds.

Likelihood you have an open LED. Therefore you won't get backlight untill you repair/replace the strip with the fault.

Big repair If youve never had experience stripping a TV back to the bare bones as the panel will need to come out.

The LED strips I believe is powered off of the three wires on the powerboard towards the top. Correct?

          I see LED1,NC,VOUT.

Alright, I tested the led connector. Both with it plugged in and unplugged. The TV still powers on without that cable connected. I can't get a reading on this output. Around the same time the back lighting flashes, I see a jump in voltage than it goes back to nothing. (Nothing means random numbers going rampant on the display.)

It does seem to be something on the power board then, if I could externally power the back light I could have a working tv. Not saying I would even attempt that. Just a thought

Note: I have a digital multimeter and I can't get the reading that it peaks at when the screen flashes.

So leave the black probe on the chassis, red probe on the LED1 then turn on the TV to see how high the dcv goes up to and goes down to after 5 seconds, then do the same on vout1.
Then remove the LED connector and repeat the same test on that LED connector of the board.

OK, VOut1 gives me 18.9v and stays there. It jumps up to maybe 70 then levels back to 18.9. Led1 however peaks to 1.3v and rolls off to .2v and that's really about it. Attached and unattached wire reads the same. I noticed that led1 goes into a SOT-223 MOSFET? Not sure how I would test that.

I tested the MOSFET N gate with data sheet providing pins.

                    This is odd though.

                    Source Voltage: 0.3mV
                    Drain Voltage: 1.60v
                    Gate Voltage: .8mV

Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

Vizio V555-G1 stuck on wallpaper; now stuck on V logo
                      by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it's getting stuck on the wallpaper. When I first power it on it goes to the V logo, then a black screen for about 15 seconds, then a Chromecast error for just a few seconds, and then finally to a wallpaper. It stays frozen on this wallpaper and does not respond to anything on the remote besides power on/off. Likewise the buttons on the tv do nothing either (besides power). I did the "reset" by holding the volume down and input buttons together for 10 seconds. It showed a message at the top of the screen saying it was Wiping Data and would restart soon. After...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
                      by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

LG LED (LCD) TV 50LN5600-UI flashes logo, red LED 3x blink
                      by jojo88
This 50 inch LG LED (LCD) TV was given to me not working. Powering it on, the logo flashes once for 1/4 second then black. Front panel red LED blinks 3x (I think... see below) then the LED turns off. TV stays on until I press the Power button again. There is an image on the LCD panel--I press the "Settings" button on the TV and this brings up menus I can see with a flashlight / torch.

(The front panel red error code LED blink sequence is a bit confusing to me. The LED is on when the TV is off. I press the Power button and the LED *very briefly* goes off--maybe 1/10 second--then...
