Re: TCL LED backlight voltage drop

LED tester connected to pins 5 or 6 and pins 1 or 2 all light up the board at 60v. It seems 5-6 and 1-2 are connected.

I tested pin 2 again to see if the readings match pin 1 and got these readings:

    24v, .9v (with BL flash), 1.5v

The tv came on with full backlight for about 20 seconds this morning when I plugged it in.

I am confused, if you pull the female connector of the board then use the tester between pin 2 and either pin 5 or pin 6 of the female connector and you see the tester shows 24v, .9v (with BL flash), 1.5v?

Pin 1 and pin 2 will be tied together only when it is plug into the male connector of the board, same for pin 5 and pin 6.

BTW, the panel is still apart so you can actually see the LEDs?

Re: TCL LED backlight voltage drop

Sorry, I had the tv put together due to lack of working space. I just took it apart though.

          strip 1 is 19.3v with 7 LEDs
          strip 2 is 22v with 8 LEDs
          strip 3 is 19.3v with 7 LEDs

They appear to be connected in Series.

Soooo I put it all back together and for some reason the backlight is staying on now. It's been 10 minutes already without turning off. The only thing I can think of is that I disconnected each LED strip from each other to test them individually just now and maybe reconnecting one of them fixed a loose connection problem? I don't know what to say except that I'll post back if it stops working?

The backlight just went out again. It happened when I connected a vga cable between it and my computer. Not sure if that's related or a coincidence.

i would suggest you to connect all the Cable direct on the LED strips jump the sockets .. , its more safe for future and best way to be sure all connection exist.

So I have a simaliar problem, I think its the power supply board, I dont have a tester to test all the led strips. my voltage, with led conector unplugged, starts at 100 and drops to 35 volts dc. then stays there, with and without led connector connected.
Bad Cap??? Father in law had his tv do the same thing, his was a 2 amp part the guy replaced, part was 2 pounds, labor was 80....

anyway. if you need photos, how do i upload?
and, how do i test led strips without an led tester? i do have some things around the house...maybe to test them...

                hope someone can help.

                cheers

The LED drive Voltage went up to 100V and then dropped down to around 35V because the circuit detected no load, you have open circuit in the LED strings some where.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

I have a Vizio M70-D3 4K with a dark spots backlight issue. It is using the Y8387248A backlight driver board.

On this model each of the 64 transistor powers 2 LEDs. Using my TKDMR TD3H backlight tester I've determined that the backlight LED strips were the issue, and the backlight driver board was just fine. Some LED pairs required 5.9 volt at 155mA, some required 9.5 volt and some were completely open.

I've removed the LCD panel and once the LED strips were exposed I've tested them again by connecting my LED tester directly on the test pads. To my surprise all, I've...

                    Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
