    Vizio E470i-A0 led replacement issue

    Hello,

I picked up a Vizio A470i-A0 that was told has a power on issue. After taking a look at it turned out to be a LED backlight problem because it had sound and picture using the flashlight test. So I took the screen off and removed each of the round plastic diffusers that sit over the leds in order to test them. I found 3 that were out. So I soldered on 3 good ones from an extra led strip that I had. I went ahead and put the round diffusers back on and now have picture but it has sort of a spot light effect to it. I wonder if this is due to the led light diffusers that sit over the leds?

the diffusers need to be sitting perfectly flush to the strip and in the same orientation as when they were removed.
WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

Ok, well I will have to take it all apart again. I wish I knew that before I took them off or I would have marked them. I will see if I can get it done tomorrow. Also could I leave them off?

      Thank you

Re: Vizio E470i-A0 led replacement issue

Ok went and took screen off again and powered it on. Looks like I have 3 rows of leds out in the middles section and 3 rows that work. Testing voltages I have 104v and 20v. The other bank reads 125v and 2.2v. I tested each led again individually on the strips that do not light and they all lit. So is this a power supply issue or could it be the board that all the leds plug into?

There a possibility that there's a poor connection at the end of one or all of the 3 led strips that do not power up. Use your meter to check for continuity on ohms with set off. If there is a continuity problem then use a small piece of wire and solder the led strips to the connecting (T) strip.

Found out what the problem was. It was one of the new leds I soldered on. It was a poor solder connection. All LED strips now work. Right now I am painstankeling adjusting each individual led diffuser cover lens.

            Thank you

Wow this is starting to be a real pain putting these led diffusers covers back on. I just can not get them right. I have maybe 12 or so left that just do not want to work right. I went as far as lining sheets of white paper in between the screens and it helped take away the spots but i could see where the edges of the paper were.

I also have led strips from a sharp aquos tv that i salvaged. I am thinking about swapping all the strips out with them.

highly unlikely that those led strips will work unless they are the same model.

another thing to pay attention to when replacing led's is making sure that you secure the strips back down with double sided tape, as if they are slightly warped, they will throw the light around unevenly as well.

                  Update time

Went ahead and redid all the led plastic covers. Took me about an hour to do but it was worth it. The picture looks great and there is no noticeable spotlighting.

Thank you everyone for the help.

So what kind of glue did you use to put the diffuser LENS back on?

I used a hot glue gun. Worked good. I was a bit worried that the heat may soften the glue but it has been holding.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue

                        Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

                        Vizio m601d-a3 backlight issue
                        by Mectronik
Hello, I'm working on a Vizio m601d-a3 with a backlight issue that I am having a difficulty diagnosing it. As it sits, the tv powers on, displays the Vizio symbol and with nothing hooked up it will then display no signal but you can only see half of the screen. I know it's a back light issue because the picture is there without light behind it, as I can see it by doing a light test. I've taken off the paneling and done a visual inspection. If I disconnect the tcon ribbon cable to the affected side then the entire half of the screen goes away. I've checked voltages at the LED driver from the main...

Samsung UE48JU7000 screen issue after backlight replacement
                        by ScHAmPi
                        Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...

Got this TV free. Guy said it tries to turn on and doesn't. I haven't seen this specific issue before but shown in video. Any way to test the screen to rule it out on these Vizio? Or anyone seen this issue before?

                        Any help appreciated
