PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue

    Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However, a new issue developed. The stick movement is no longer smooth.

I recorded a short clip showing the movement: https://streamable.com/7mqc6i

As you can see, it looks stutter-y and not smooth compared to the right stick. If I run the circularity test on the stick, it gets 22% avg error.

I've been doing quite a bit of research and it seems that the likely cause of my issue is simply bad replacement potentiometers.

Here's what the inside of the replacement potentiometers look like:

The pads/tracks inside are not all in black like the originals. They have large silver parts mixed in. Could these be causing problems with the stick movement?

If it is just bad replacements, does anyone know where to get good replacements from in the UK?

The one that doesn't work for you, you need one like this.

Thought so. Any idea where to get ones like that from? I don't want to order random ones and get ones that don't work properly. A lot of listings on eBay/Aliexpress don't show what the inside of the potentiometer looks like.

Found a potential seller. I asked them to take a picture of the inside of the potentiometer and they took a pic. I attached an image.

        Will these ones work better?

This one is similar, the resistance should be between 1 and 3 pin - 10 kOhm.

Try ordering some OEMs from AliExpress. Search for HONGYOU store - their stuff is pristine quality.

Samsung flicker - BN44-00932T board or else?
              by fixit007
I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.

Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!

Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.

Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick...

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

tl;dr: minimal electronics experience and my first repair, lifted 8 pads off the laptop display LED controller board when attempting a connector replacement, options are attempting pad repair or jump wiring.

              Hello,

I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

Spent some time downloading the Service...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
              by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...
