hey guys working on a vizio m3d650sv for a local pawn shop and originally started with 3 vertical lines on right hand side...shop ordered a tcon board & they installed and lines were still there...then after having them switch the 4 ribbon cables around lost all picture including backlights...i went back to troubleshoot & noticed that when you disconnect the red wired cable from either tcon or inverter board you regain backlights...after doing some research i've concluded that this is probably a tab bonding issue in reference to the lines but as far as the backlight issue do you guys have any ideas for me? appreciate all information shared

is there anymore information i could provide to help get an answer? -
Re: vizio m3d650sv panel questions
If the backlights were working BEFORE switching the ribbons cables around then it may mean that the cables were not put back in place properly, they can be real tricky some times.
As far as Vertical lines on the screen, I do say it is the panel problem.Never stop learning

Re: vizio m3d650sv panel questions
You can almost always switch those ribbons around as per the same tv panel they will use the exact same ribbons.
You may as budm suggested have not placed those back in correctly.Comment

Re: vizio m3d650sv panel questions
You are unclipping the cables and not pushing them in and out of the connectors, are you?Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: vizio m3d650sv panel questions
Yes unclipping...I solder/work on electrical components for a living just branching into tvs to learn about something new...I'd agree about the tab bonds...thanks for the help guysComment

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but... -
by KYBOSHI came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).
When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.
Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...08-10-2024, 08:39 AM -
by brad2157I picked up a Vizio E70-E3 for free that shows Vizio logo and then goes to a black screen. Original owner said he started having wifi issues and then he tried to reset the TV and that's when it wouldn't boot up any longer after his reset attempt. I picked up a replacement main board from eBay that matches the same model # board as the original from the TV.
Original main board - Shows Vizio logo when TV powers on, then goes to black screen. Doesn't boot up. No screen issues with any lines on start up Vizio logo.
Replacement main board - Boots up fine, but starting... -
by mmartellMy goal here is to be able to use boards on hand to swap into faulty sets when the faulty board is not obvious.
I will start by asking what is the format of the output from the mainboard and is it generic in any way or does it vary by manufacturer and/or model ?
And as far as I know a tcon and panel must be a matching pair because the timing of the signals and the voltages required to drive the panel are specific to the panel itself. (That may be a blanket statement that isn't true in some cases where the panel creates its own sub-voltages on its panel boards?)...01-06-2024, 01:32 PM -
by frannyjunkI have a Vizio P502UI-B1 50" tv and baked the main board a little too much (to reflow BGA) resulting in a dead tv. I would like to use the Vizio LCD panel in another tv. Someone in the P502UI-B1 thread said he/she was able to take that Vizio LCD panel and put it into an LG 50UH5530 and it worked. Looking at the Tcon boards from the 2 tv's show different model boards (LG = EAMDJ2S55 while the Vizio tcon = V500DK2-CKS2). I have since looked up tv's that uses the V500DK2-CKS2 Tcon board (Hisense 50H7GB, Vizio P502-B1E & M50-C1, Westinghouse WD50UT4490, and a few others). Does this mean any...
