    Samsung UN40D6000SF Possible bad panel?

Took this unit apart cleaned and reseated all the t-con cables and what not. The picture issues comes and goes and moves to different spots on the screen. All my research says this is a bad panel but i'm conflicted, whats this look like to you. Static images are way worse, they slowly start getting cloudy white all over. Moving picture some times looks perfect some times has a few lines some times is barely watchable.

    Thanks for the input.

No, one of the screws to the plate that covers them are stripped from the factory :? I know no one has been in this tv it's my brothers. I'll have to cut it out with a dermal which is not fun.

If i had to make a guess, its the tab bonds though. This happened after his wife "cleaned" the screen, the bonds are on the bottom of the panel on this unit. I'm thinking some moisture seeped.

'This happened after his wife "cleaned" the screen, the bonds are on the bottom of the panel on this unit. I'm thinking some moisture seeped.' The tab bond connections are probably corroded by now.

Have you checked the tabs and tab panel board to dry it out. You may be lucky since you say the problem comes and goes and moves around.

I'm going to grind the stripped screw off with a small dremel bit, and get to the tabs and tab boards. I'll Do that tomorrow i've left my shop for the day.

              I'll keep you guys posted.

Know this is older, Took a look at the bonds they didn't have liquid damage, elected not to much with them since it was still watchable. Sent it back to my brothers place. Today i happened to come across a smashed screen unit with the same tcon, the tcon was working on the part of the screen that wasnt black blobbed. so i'll try that and let you guys know.

I had one doing this bright image lark....

If you look where the T-Con goes to the small half-length boards along the bottom of panel, you'll see the ends nearest the ribbon socket is close to the steel of the panel frame...

Over time/heat/use causes the paxolin of the board to sag and there's some chunky SMD caps/--or summit--that shorts to the steel frame giving this fault...

Wedge a bit of rubber in there--All's well again.

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                      by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                      tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                      by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions
                      by KYBOSH
I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
