LG 50LN5400 bad LEDs

Another LG with badly burnt LED.
This one has two strings of LEDs, one string has badly burnt open LED and 2 shorted out LEDs, another string has 1 shorted out LED.
I replaced the burnt strip with spare strip, and then replaced the 3 shorted LEDs I got from ALIEXPRESS, LG LEDs.
I cut up the old LEDs and hand solder the new LEDs in place.
I will let it burn in for about a week.

Ive done alot of the LNs but not had them fail like you've had yet Bud. Good work

what would cause that, seems like it could have caught fire, I'm changing some bad strips on a vizio right now, but none were marsh mellowed like that.

Of all the LN series I repaired, the worst one was this one:

It was not repairable due to badly damaged diffusers, and bad smoke smell.

Hi, could you please specify what type of LED did you used? I have the same TV (LG 50LN5400) with several defective backlight LED-s but I do not want to replace whole LED strips. Could I use LATWT470RELZK from aliexpress? Thank you for response.

Did you glue the clear lenses back on or left them off? If so what kind of glue did you use?

You must glue the LENS back in place otherwise you will see bright spot on the screen, I use GEL Super glue.

There is another way to fix which I prefered. More green , more recycle, faster and less money.

Look at 24:34 Instead, I use 3M high temperature resistant, heat conducted, Double Sided tape.

Hi guys, here is my feedback as I promised:
I bought following LEDs: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...608.0.0.c2EG6n (6USD per 100pcs) and they work flawlessly. There were 4 defective LEDs on whole backlight - 2 shorted, 1 opened and 1 partially conductive. The TV works again after their replacement. Thanks!
