Toshiba 26AV733G, vertical color lines, panel ChiMei V260B3-L04

This 26" TV show equidistant vertical abnormal lines. These are not solid pixel lines, but its intensity varies depending on image content. The pattern is as follows:

1 red abnormal subpixel, 4 normal pixels, 1 green abnormal subpixel, 4 normal pixels, 1 blue abnormal subpixel, 5 normal pixels. Repeat.

    Panel is a ChiMei V260B3-L04.

I've checked and reseated LVDS cable, no changes.

This looks like a panel failure, doesn't it? No detachable T-CON in this case.

This looks like a Main Board issue to me....or it could also be a bad LVDS cable....I would however tend towards the Main Board.

Thanks for your comment. I have record of another 26AV733G repair, 4 years ago. It was the LVDS cable, but the symptom was different, it had posterized colors. I’ll check it more carefully, since it’ll be difficult to find a replacement now.

Seems to me like panel tab bond issue which is very common for this panel. Remove the panel frame and press on the tab bonds see if it has any effect.

I’ve been able to try another MAIN board and the issue is still there. So it’s LVDS cable or panel. I don’t think it’s cable because after checking panel datasheet, I can’t see how can a bad wire produce this effect.

If I have time I’ll try to check tab bonds and report back.

No luck. I’ve touched all 6 tab bonds and no changes. I’ve heated all ICs (not too many), no changes. I’m gonna give up with this one, as it’s clearly a driver failure and this one doesn’t have detachable T-CON.

The effect matches the first picture from page 43, Sony T-CON troubleshooting manual, "MULTIPLE EVENLY SPACED [vertical] LINES NOT AFFECTED BY PICTURE ZOOMING".

Hmm have you an image of the Tcon buddy ? It could be the flat flex wires that are bonded to it and the panel.

That's what we call Tab Bonds and that's what I've touched looking for changes in lines, to no avail. Its "T-CON" is a long PCB on top side of panel. One LVDS connector at one side and 6 tab bonds to the LCD glass. A CM2652A controller IC, a Texas TPS65161 and 3-4 smaller ICs.

I've already reassembled and closed it.

i got same effect on cheap LCD Chinese projector, the line cover all screen while picture color displaying correct, only deferent the lines was in double and same distances as yours, i just put the the LCD under the magnifier and on it taps there are many SMT caps, i just did heating with my soldering iron the caps pins from both side. result the picture back normal with out lines at all.

@Diah: Do you mean you heated up SMT caps on the flat cable comming to LCD panel?

the LCD i mentioned above are mini one, the ribbon cable which come from MB plug go direct to LCD , before the LCD on this ribbon was one Diode and about 16 SMT caps which i heat the pins of them with my soldering Iron,

                          Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                          by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                          by viking509
I recently replaced the led backlights with LB65041 LED Backlight Strips and after putting it back together the backlights work but there are only colored vertical lines only in the center of the tv. I can see the Netflix logo (jumbled) after a minute or less the screen went dark. When I turned it on again the lines were back. Then I replaced the t-con board but the same vertical lines in the picture. My question is what is my next step? Could it be a source tab bond issue? A buffer board issue? Could I have loosened a connection to the panel when replacing the backlights? Should I replace the...

Thanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

The issues are as follows: the...

                          by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I'm not sure what to do next and came here since y'all helped me fix a 50" plasma TV back in 2014, which is still working!

A friend gave me an Insignia NS-50DR620NA18 50" TV that suddenly developed large vertical lines on it. He said he had no idea what might have caused it and has replaced it with a larger TV. He was going to throw it away.

I did not notice any bulged or leaking caps on any board, the voltages produced by the power supply match the voltage that the pins are marked. The backlight leds are working. I have tried cleaning the ribbon cables...
