Panasonic TX-P50GT30 ( Panel , Board or bad connection? )

    Hey guys ,

Since i finally found the right parts ( thx flocko/tw2005 ) to repair sc boards with 6/7 blinks , i repaired a dozen panny's without problems. Many thanks , makes repairing a lot easier if you use the original parts

This tuesday i will take a gamble though. Im going to pick up a working 50GT30 that has a weird problem.
At first i thought , nah to much risk and probably a bad panel but i couldn't take this tv out of my head.

Something tells me that it's a bad connection on the mainboard going to the C1/C2 boards. Or a bad C1/C2 board.

Im going to pick it up anyway just because of the working boards but i was wondering what the experts have to say about this problem?

I asked a friend who repairs Panasonic tv's for a very long time and he said he had never seen anything like this before on a Panasonic.

    Your thoughts?

Yes but the screen is cut in half. It would mean that all COF on the left half panel are dead?

Bad panel is usually 1 COF that fails on the bottom causing a black vertical bar. But these are 8 tiny lines. It cuts the screen in half.
I think it's a bad C1 board or dust or bad connection.

Attached picture is bad panel! I hope i can fix it easily haha

I hope you can. That's another reason I don't things it's the c boards on my two. The screen is divided horizontally into black at the bottom and gray up top. C boards don't make sense to me.

C links to the address buffers, normally there is two boards for vertical rows spilt one for each half the panel. Its possible but lets wait and see what others say.

First thing to do with this one is a horizontal flip in the service menu. Two things that appear interesting is it is half the panel and the lines appear equidistant .

I'd say BGA chip on mainboard. I gt one where halve the screen flickers bad till you freeze the BGA on the main..

Now that i've looked at this on my PC instead of the phone, I noticed the image is wrong so I think Martino is warm, I'm thinking mainboard.

Yes i was thinking the same! Think it will turn out ok and i got a nice panny for a decent price. scboard has not been worked on so new screws and mainboard and we got a winner...

We will know the answer tomorrow!

Re: Panasonic TX-P50GT30 ( Panel , Board or bad connection? )

So i picked it up today. Great tv! No scratches etc.

Turned it on and noticed the lines immediately. They are only on the left side of the panel and on the left side i also noticed some sparkles. ( Not dithering ).
Removed the back and checked the c1/c2 and C31 connections and they looked ok. Reseated all connections on mainboard and turned on the tv , again same issue.

I thought , it can also be a voltage problem because of the sparkles. Vsus was 215V so thats ok.

Replaced mainboard and all symptoms are gone! Got the mainboard from a german guy that had damaged his VT30. So GT30 is running fine on a VT30 mainboard and i will replace it with the original GT30 board this thursday.

I payed $180 euro + 2hour drive so it was worth it!

Another panny saved from the bin.

Big gamble but it turned out ok. Ps , the image on the left side was also stuttering up and down.

Love a good fix like this, I personally wouldn't normally bother though as if it was panel money is lost Good work though !

I said keep in mind that it could be a panel fault, but would think it would be an easy fix, I also said do not pay more then you could get back selling its parts. Happy it worked out for you. Flocko

Moreno83, which mainboard that you replace? is it the one with HDMI/Component connector?

I have similar issue with LG plasma 60PS60. This unit is divided by 3 section X buffer on the bottom (Left, Center, and Right) and problem is the whole Center X section become black.
I don't believe i got bad panel since not just 1 vertical line like in your sample picture.

I replaced X Center board did not fix the problem, and hoping I can replace the mainboard. So please tell me which mainboard that you replace?

                                      Thanks.

Hey Moreno83, in your post #3 you were saying that a Bad panel is usually 1 COF that fails on the bottom causing a black vertical bar. Is it repairable I haven't worked on many Panasonic plasmas yet. I've got a TH-42PX75U here's a picture.
