    Panasonic P42UT30 with 14 blinks.

    Hey guys ,

It's been a while but im back with repairing tv's.
Picked up this nice plasma tv from Panasonic and its giving me 14 blinks. No green led , just red LED with 14 blinks.

So this is what i have done/tested.

    1) No shorts on P2 / P11 / SN2 / SS 11
    2) No shorted IGBT's on SS/SN board. ( No continuity beep )
    3) No shorted diode's on SS/SN board. ( Only continuity on outer 2 legs ).
    3) No shorted bufferboards.

It has the TNPA5349 board with integrated buffer boards.

In this video you see the exact same boards.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIyHr13b5w8

In this video i tested the same parts the same way and they are ok.

so it's either a bad mainboard or power board. Lets test.

Re: Panasonic P42UT30 with 14 blinks.

I do get F15V on the power supply and 5VSTB.
When i turn on the tv the 5VSTB goes to 0v and 5VSTB-ON comes up and stays on.

It does not matter what connector i disconnect , it always gives me 14 blinks.
    For example :

    If i disconnect SC20 and P2 , it gives me 14 blinks
If i then also disconnect SS11 it also gives me 14 blinks.

So its either the PS or the mainboard. Mainboard turns on the tv as i get 5V STB-ON.
Removed P2 connector and turned tv on. I don't get any voltage on that connector.

I will remove the PS for further testing.

    Any suggestions?

Ow boy. Somebody tried to replace some capacitors on the powersupply and replaced them for cheaper ones. Bad soldering to be honest.....

Dont think this is a capacitor problem but i hope i can still fix this board.
So a small update. Im missing the 15Vs

Resoldered the capacitors but still the same problem.

The training manual says that if F15v is present --> replace A board.

The 15V line on IC4800 is present but disappears after the click , im suspecting the mainboard to be bad.

Re: Panasonic P42UT30 with 14 blinks.

I actually bought this tv with this problem , hoping it was the SC board/IGBT problem. After measuring all boards im almost certain that the A board is the problem.

I don't measure shorts on the connectors or IGBT's/Diodes on all 3 boards. No matter what connector i remove , i always get 14 blinks. The F15V / 5V / 3.3V on the power supply is present so that looks good. However , the 3.3v line on the mainboard is jumping from 0 to 3.3v , it goes up and down and the 15V line goes dead.

Im suspecting that the A board has a communication error , maybe bad CPU due to lightning/power surge?

I have to get a new mainboard to test it or does someone have any last suggestions?

                TV IS WORKING!!!

I was searching the forum for 14 blinks and found a thread from Reecey where he reflowed the audio chip on the mainboard.
This mainboard has a big CPU which i know from VT/GT/ST models that they get really hot. As i was pretty sure that the mainboard was bad i thought , lets reflow that big cpu.

Applied flux all around that cpu and reflowed it with a heat gun for a few minutes and let it cool.
Reinstalled the mainboard and the TV is now working!!!!! Damn , what a gamble!

Need to further test it to see if all functions like HDMI work but atleast i know the problem.

Hmmm unfortunately im back to square 1 , picture looked like this and now it wont turn on anymore.

It keeps blinking 7 times but i cant find any shorts on the sc board. Is this still a mainboard problem?

                      Will go further test tomorrow.

                          It ended to quickly yes!

But it only saw 1 HDMI so thats not good either. Will recheck everything tomorrow , i still think that the A board thinks the SC/SN board is blown.

Diah has that information out of the service manual that indeed says the infrared sensor is shorted which causes the 14 blink error , service manual is not that great.

Lets hope i'll have better luck tomorrow.

What causing the negative colours? A board?

I've got a TNPA5349 that was sent out twice to a company called finasonic on eBay.
They said they fixed twice but I'm still getting 7 blinks on my p42st30.
If you are interested let me know.

Just realized you are in the Netherlands. Probably not cost effective.

Ahh yeah, 14 blinks is just the cpu going "dam it somethings wrong, better turn off" and shutting down the set not specific though 14 blinks isnt

Re: Panasonic P42UT30 with 14 blinks.

So i took the SC and SS boards out and measured all IGBTS and Diodes. They are all ok and almost all measure the same value.
The resistors are all measuring the same value.

I rechecked the buffer boards for shorts but they are fine also.

I measured P2 connector and it measures 207v when i turn it on and then changes to 215v and shuts down with a 7 blink.

So im lost here and need some help. It's either a bad SC board or the mainboard is detecting something thats not there. As i dont have a mainboard i want to recheck the SC board.

I have a spare repare kit for the VT30/50 , the same small transistor on the sc board is identical so i might replace it.

This all happened after i rechecked the SC20 cable and reseated the ribbon cables.

I need some help with this tv

The small transistor is IC502 and Q531. Not sure if they are the culprit...

I removed these 3 cables and turned the tv on and it stays on?? Is that normal?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock

I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                                          After all of...

Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

                                          D608, good
                                          D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                                          D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                                          D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)

                                          IC464 Inverter HA MC74HC1G14, shorted...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
