Awesome, thanks! The mainboard part number is A2068024A. I have one ordered from ebay that should be coming in at some point tomorrow so hopefullly that will resolve the issue. Managed to find one for fairly cheap (around $65 for the entire mainboard and audio driver), so hopefully that will take care of it. Will let you know once its in.

its worth a try if it doesn t solve it for other reasons i guess you can always re sell it to get your money back.

yet another update. It didnt seem like the update was taking when using the USB port, so went ahead and plugged it in to a wired connection to see if it would default to that. Immediate connection and power up. Went in to install the most recent software update, downloaded it to the TV, the TV said it was going to reboot and install the update, turned itself off and hasnt booted since. There is a glimmer of hope, and the picture on this thing is much better than the one that I currently have. The replacement mainboard is coming in tomorrow so will update if anything happens between then and now. Otherwise, will let you guys know if the replacement main board fixes it.

The new main board came in yesterday and was installed last night and that resolved all problems. The TV is working now and mounted in the wall. Had it running for about an hour and a half last night after all updates were installed and all is good! Thanks for the help guys, as always, it was appreciated! I wonder what is going on with Tue other main board that was causing the issue? It successfully booted once and was fine, but never again...

theres usually a white sticker on the mainboard or sometimes its printed on it if you cant find the number upload a good clear picture and we will try to help.

Now there are a fair few versions of this board i guess diffrent software etc for whatever panel the tv uses so be carefull when buying a replacement

A software update is required upon installing this part. After replacing this board please visit esupport.sony.com and download the correct version for your model and follow all instructions. After the update the television may seem to be running slow, but this is normal as the TV is adjusting to the new software and will return back to normal after a few minutes. PLEASE NOTE: Sony software updates can be extremely finicky. We've found that after downloading the correct software to a USB drive, the following procedure has worked best:

Turn TV on
Wait one minute
Insert USB drive
Wait for LED on USB drive to stop blinking
Wait 15 minutes
If on-screen activity does not indicate success, turn TV off, remove USB drive and repeat steps.

So I order a main board by that number like the place told me, it came up as for a xbr65x850b and I have the xbr55x850b. So would these interchange if I done a software update?

Maybe give shopjimmy a phonecall/email im sure they will advise you correctly but in there listing of the mainboard they do list three diffrent size panel used so yes it maybe why you have to change the software when fitting the board.
Are you sure your own mainboard is at fault? have you had it checked etc.

I had the red light flashing three times, and now I replaced the mainboard and updated the software, they stopped. Now the screen lights up but the home sceen don't show.

was the replacement mainboard the same number as the last one?
have you got any sound? on the tv

Yes the board was the a2039719a number I can heard the beeps on the tv for the home page, but have not hooked it up to anything.

hook it too a source maybe a dvd player and play the film see if you have sound is the screen lit like the backlights are on? as it maybe a t con issue

When I hooked it to a source I did not get any sound, and yes it is like the back lights are on.

do you know what a t con board is? there will be a fuse on it i wonder if its worth checking the dc voltage at each side of the fuse incase its blown or no voltage too it.

I am unsure of which is the fuse, but I checked both sides of the white piece and had power both places.

yes thats the fuse so its not that then at fault no sure what to suggest next too be honest maybe more experienced members can advise further
