Optiplex 3050 micro 2 blinks followed by 3 blinks issue

Does anyone have an idea of what might be the issue with my 3050 micro? I have tried replacing new cmos battery but still the same

I am not sure if its the powersupply that I'm using is the issue since its the original powersupply. its a laptop powersupply with the same specifications with the 3050 micro so i guess it should be fine.

i also tried replacing the bios but with no avail, everytime i try another bios it gives a different blinking lights

Any recommendation on what I have to do next? Thanks in advance

everytime i try a bios it gives me different blinking codes, maybe its just not compatible with the 3050 micro that I have

Replacing bios by hard with programmer or by exchanging SPI chip on Dell motherboards is as far as concerning my experience a bad idea. Dell is somehow pairing the bios with the chipset during production process with some code and burning fuses in the chipset. So if you exchange the bios image to one without the specific code (eg. stock image, or image from another board), the board will not POST giving only some blinking LED. Hopefully you made a backup of the image, before replacing the BIOS or you have the original chip. Otherwise I suspect that only way to overcone this, is to exchange the chipset for a new one, without programmed code and burned fuses, and this is a quite expensive and difficult work. However I never confirmed this experimentally, so even this might not work with a Dell bios.

So the chipset OS, the Management Engine on Dell boards is highly secure, good for commercial appliances, but for repairing it's a nightmare. As far as I know only Dell is doing this, maybe HP too, but I'm not sure.

Power supply shouldn't be the issue.

Do you know the history of this board ? If someone messed around with the bios already before, maybe this is the issue.

Hi Dynax thanks for the response. Actually, I have save the original bios file before I reprogram the bios chip, the prev issue was it will boot to Bios setup but it really take time before it boots and when ever i exit the bios settings it will try to restart but din shuts down and will never turn on again. For me to turn it ON again is to remove the powersupply and cmos battery for a couple ug minutes din try again, sometimes it boot faster but then again once you exit bios settings i will try to restart and shuts down again even if I have a ssd with working OS

Thats the reason that made me think that it might be the bios, I tried to ask for a bios for it with service tag and original bios file but I dont have any response yet to that request. sadly

Looks not good, my suspicion would be degraded/failing chipset, this happens quite often on older boards, and DELL uses very small or even no radiators for chipsets. If so repair almost makes no sense for such board.

Regarding bios upgrade, you should be able to download newest bios with the service code on the DELL support site. However its sometimes difficult to find, try better to google for a direct link. However DELL supplies some exec to upgrade the bios, not a simple bios binary file, so board must work at least going into bios to be able to upgrade the bios. This company always must make easy things difficult, I don't check this why they do so. Same like russians, which must have wider train rails when the whole rest of the world.

Last thoughts: Did you check if the RTC/CMOS battery is not empty ? Did you check the service jumper on the board to be in correct position for normal operation ? You can also use the service jumper to reset the bios, maybe this will help.
