Any chance someone here has a schematic for an MSI Prestige 14 - board number MS-14c1? Have seen it on a few paid sites, but nothing in the wild yet.
As always - thanks in advance!

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Was able to take some measurements from PU15 between the power on button being pressed and the system shutting down. The datasheet for this has also been attached to the post.
This is an NB685GQ - got the following results on the pins.
Pin 1 (VIN) - 19.9v
Pin 2 (PGND) - 0v
Pin 3 (3v3) - 3.3v
Pin 4 (AGND) - 0v
Pin 5 (VTT) - .594v
Pin 6 (VDDQ) - 1.19v
Pin 7 (VTTREF) - .594v
Pin 8 (VTTS) - .594v
Pin 9 (SW) - 1.19v
Pin 10 (BST) ...

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Scratch my last two posts about the rail being the 1.05vSUS rail. It is the 1.2v RAM power rail that, when lifted, resulted in the clicking noise and power down issue to go away.
The measurements are the same - measuring 270 ohms to ground.
The rail blinks on for a moment and gets to 1.2v, then a click, and an immediate shutdown.
Voltages on the NB685GQ look good, so no issues in actually generating the rail. But - there is an OTW pin that gets to about .750v after a few power on attempts and starts at...

So yeah - dead PCH integrated with CPU = no hope?

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Had some time to do some tests tonight after replacing the shorted mosfet on the 19v rail. Lifted the coil for the 1.05SUS power rail (at least to the best I can tell based on a schematic for a MS-16R11 which is somewhat similar) and the immediate power down / clicking issue went away. The chip that generates this rail is an NB685GQ (datasheet is included here as well). This rail is reading at 300 ohms to ground on the consumer side when lifted and 270 ohms to ground when soldered on to the pad. Not sure if this would be a case where voltage...Last edited by jimanez11; 03-21-2022, 09:22 PM.

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
So - was taking some additional voltage readings on other lines that would come during post as Piernov suggested when my 19v completely went away. I didnt bridge anything or inadvertantly short anything with my probes, so maybe the chip was on the verge of failure which was causing the initial issues? Either way, this triggered the shut-off protection in the power supply which pointed to a short on the main rail, which was now reading 80 ohms to ground. After some more probing, was able to find a mosfet that was shorted and after it was removed...

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Scratch that Piernov - misread your reply. Think you meant that I need to check for shorts on the rails that are enabled before computer posts. My fault - has been a long day!

Re: MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Thanks mcplslg123 and piernov for the responses and suggestions. I will try lifting the GPU coils and see if anything changes.
Piernov - how would I go about testing the downstream side of the power rails that do come up for a short? I can inject voltage but without knowing the voltages that are expected on the coils, that would be a toss-up and dont want to fry anything. Should I lift the coils and see if the resistance drops or should I take a look at voltage regulator output pins? Will try to trace back the LCD power rail and see if...

MSI PS63 Modern MS-16S1 - No Power
Have a MSI PS63 Modern with a board number of MS-16S11. Havent been able to find schematics or boardview for this machine, but would love to try to get it fixed.
When the power button is pressed, the machine attempts to boot - keyboard backlight turns on, then there is an audible click and the board reverts to a power off state. Press the power button again and the same thing happens. Have pulled the board from the machine trying to locate the clicking noise by sound, but it appears to be coming from everywhere on the board and I cant pinpoint its location.
The board...

Re: Lenovo C930-13IKB EYG70 NM-B741
Have fixed two of these with the same issue. One of the 4 power filter caps to the right side of PR50 was shorted. They are shown as PC77, PC78, PC79, and PC80. I removed all four of these, replaced one with a dead short across it, and machine booted perfectly.
If this is happening, a decent way to test would be to check for a fault on U227 or U38. These IC's have a fault detection pin (from what I remember) and will cycle in a specific way if there is a short on the output line. Ill see if I can dig up a data sheet for them, but...

Re: Sennheiser Momentum M2 AEBT Headphones
Thanks tibimakai Have poked around a bit and there doesnt appear to be any shorts. Have also found the data sheets for the ANC chips and for the bluetooth chip (both of which appear to be working, but am thinking that there is some issue with the output signal from one or the other). There is an IC that is making a high-pitched buzz - I think is either a buck converter or a voltage regulator, but cant find any information from searching the IC markings, so am not sure. The IC markings are “S48” on top and “W8o” on...Last edited by jimanez11; 07-21-2021, 11:59 AM.

Sennheiser Momentum M2 AEBT Headphones
Have an issue with my momentum wireless headphones. Bought them on ebay to try out repairing them - have done component level repairs on laptops and other small devices, so figured I would give it a shot - but I know very little about audio circuits and troubleshooting - so please forgive my lack of basic terminology knowledge and any help is appreciated.
An overview of the symptoms is listed below with a more detailed outline after that:
- Immediately on power on - slight static in right side of headphones
- Static only lasts for 45 seconds to a minute
-...

Re: Surface Laptop 1st Gen - SSD not detected
Measured a few of the caps around the SSD and also the step down converter right next to it. Itf location is indicative of the power supply (which I know is not necessarily the case), then it looks like the ssd is getting 3.3v steady. Will end up purchasing the schematics and going through the rails I guess. Appreciate the help so far!Last edited by jimanez11; 06-25-2021, 05:18 PM.

Re: Surface Laptop 1st Gen - SSD not detected
So far none of the disk management tools show any signs of an internal SSD and the sudo lsblk command when run from a usb ubuntu version doesnt show anything except the USB storage device. Is there any other tool or mechanism that I can use to completely rule out a failed SSD, or does it seem like this is toast?Last edited by jimanez11; 06-25-2021, 03:35 PM.

Re: Surface Laptop 1st Gen - SSD not detected
Awesome - thanks for the suggestions. Will try some other software methods before removing the ssd. Cant use UBCD because there is no legacy boot for the surface laptop, so am trying some tools on Sergei Strelec's WinPE tools. Will see what happens and if anything sees the ssd. Also - not really interested in an external ssd solution if at all possible.

Re: A1706 Critical Software update. Not Touchbar etc.
Have no idea if this actually works or not, but have heard that if you manually set the system time (through terminal from recovery partition) to 1/1/2016 you may be able to get past this. Again, haven't tried it but resetting the system time is too easy not to at least try it? Let me know if it works?
