I'm starting to see more and more Vizio and LG's coming in with LED back lights burned out and I have not found anyplace to purchase a new strip just a hit or miss with used stuff on eBay. I have butchered a few in from doner backlight strips but I see after removing the lens it might not be too bad a job just to super glue a new LED bulb on top the old one and solder to the old connections then install the lens again. Has any one done this or has any ideas on what to do replacing these other than what I am doing right now??

Re: LED Backlight replacement question
You can get them off replacement/spare strips, if you want I can link my repair video of this. If not just order some pure white SMT 0.5w-1w Leds. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Re: LED Backlight replacement question
dont bother with removing the lens ,you wont get them back on well enough so not to give a hot spot on the screen
Best bet is to replace led strips with strips from donor sets or remove the led faulty led and place a cut section of a good led from faulty strips on top and connect with wires
Plenty of YouTube clips showing this

Re: LED Backlight replacement question
Don't remove the lenses? What is so hard about it? I use a hair dryer to softer the glue, then just pop them off. This is the time to remove all the remaining glue, while it is still warm. Once the LED is exposed, replace it with a good one. Mix up some 5 minute epoxy and using a toothpick, place a small amount in the holes in the strip, then carefully place the lens into the epoxy. Once cured, no bad colors and no hot spots.Comment

Re: LED Backlight replacement question
I personnally replaced a lot of bad LED's on strips, just removing the lens with a precision cutter applied on the base of three pads, then using a heat gun to remove the failing LED and resolder a new one in place either from its edge with a conventionnal solder iron or with a heat gun blowing from the backside of the strip's PCB. In that cas I use self adhesive aluminium (used by plumbers) to maintain the LED in place and prepare both the LED and the PCB pads with a little solder and flux. Watch the polarity and test one by one the replaced LEDs. I use 3528 LEDs from this source : http://fr.aliexpress.com/item/100PCS...OrigTitle=true. Then refix the lens using a little drop of instant glue on each pad while maintaining the LED low glow by appliying small amount of current in order to correctly center the CAP above the lighted surface of the LED. Light diffusion is not perfect but acceptable and each LED replaced is à 5 cent fixing, a lot less than buying a new stripe. Good luck !Comment

by nicke74Got problem with a samsung UE55JU6875 after replacemant of backlight
I have done similar replacement several times before without any issues but now I got video problems after the replacement and do not understand why
Attached picture of the problem
Is it a bad panel or any issues with the T-con card or ribbon cables or bad connections?.
I have tried to replace both ribbon cables from T-con to panel without any difference.
Any ideas?
The only misstake I might have done was forgot to remove the ribbon cables from the T-con card before... -
This TV has been on the wall in our reception area for around 10 years and the other day the backlight failed. You could see a feint picture so we knew the screen was OK. I took the TV apart to get to the failed backlight and inject voltage in to each half of the LED strips to identify which ones had failed and 4 needed replacing. I ordered a set off of Amazon and they arrived the next day.
On fitting the new LED strips I plugged in the TV was blinded by the light!!
It was only when I partially put it all back together (including the screen) that... -
by DanPokaI bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...-

by Comp_ProHello all,
Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.
Tests performed:
There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
Fuse F8400 ok
Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure... -
by alltvrepairsHi,
This TV uses 2 bottom edge LED strips. 1 was faulty but replaced both. However I have still noticed that the RHS of the TV switches on and then TV starts to recycle power getting to the LG logo and start over. If I disconnect the RHS LED strip will work with half screen lit. I have swapped LEDs and same problem.
The power supply uses MAP3516 chip. Have replaced it twice, Checked all components as greatly suggested in this post https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl.../101580-lg55uh...2 Photos - Loading...
