This is the type I bought and it's been well worth the money especially for testing transistors and mosfets but as I said earlier it tends to read ESR higher than when I use my Dick Smith tester.

Those cheapos will also test transistors, diodes, caps and resistors and more... Most of them give you all the info on their screen, usually fairly accurate. Good for most servicing. I have about 5 of them - They sell for about $15. Some or better than others. I am not wild about the blue lever connection - but it works. Just be careful with them they break very easily.
