    Panasonic TC-P58VT25 10 blink

Just a question for a Panasonic expert. I have a TNPA5175AD withe the usual shorted components. While waiting for parts, I have a spare TNPA5175AB which passed the usual test. I installed the buffers and I only have the top part of the screen. I dont see anything else wrong with ribbon cables or connections. I am hoping its because the version is different as opposed to an almost extinct SD board. Thanks for any input if any one has experienced that before.

Tiny ribbon between boards fitted right?

BTW--Dont run it for long--The ERC components are set for the size of the panel, so will have wrong time-constant and put excess strain on the ERC and SUS IGBT's...

Yes, I think I reseated it about 10 times in denial. I just turned it on to see only the top half for about 20 seconds. The TNPA5175aAB came out of a same size (58") but it was a p58s2 which isn't internet or 3D. I figured it must be the version difference thats causing the issue. If the buffer was bad it would not display half if I am thinking right. I did remove the SD buffer and jumped the SC50 and it blinked 7 times which I figured it would. I always thought a wrong version board would turn the plasma on, but would not display any video. I never thought it would show half display. Thanks again for any input. I guess once I get the SC board from the tv rebuilt, I might answer my own question. I was more curious why it would do that. I have never had a Panasonic with half display. It is either blinking code or full display.

Maybe dig up the manuals for the 58vt25 and the 58S2, compare cct for both the SC and the SD boards as one is a 2D model and one is a 3D model.

On the 50" I know both the SC and SD are not the same in the 3D model in the schematics.

I think I will hopefully rebuild it successfully and everything works. I was kinda thinking along with tw2005 that the cct is different I just never thought it would display the top half. The top half of the menu looks great!!!!!

Well here is the update. I took my time and did a little at a time so I would not hurry thru.

I did the SJ repair kit but of course it did not have all the parts needed like the 45g128, rufs20 and the Q661.

So I ordered that and put it in with the SC50 jumped. The SC board led lit up for about 3 seconds then went bright and shut down.

Now I have a 6 blink code which looks like part of the SC board. I checked all the ribbon cables numerous times and still 6 blinks. I checked all the diodes and transistors and none blown not even the 661.

. I am not real good with schematics. I do have 5v and about 15.5v measuring at test points close to SC20.

Removing SC20 and the c board ribbon goes to 8 blinks which again points to the SC board.

I am not sure what to check at this point, so if anyone has time to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

It sure is disappointing after all the work and went from 10 blink to 6 blink

best you list every item supplied and the locations or if SJ supply instructions I'd be interested in a copy of those.

Even though they don't show what they supply I can tell they're deficient simply from the componnts qty and images it's not all there.

If I had a hint this was your plan to get a supplied kit, I would have warned you.

If you can, take some shot good enough of the board so I can zoom in. Particularly around the Q661 area and IC521 area

I figured the kit didn't didn't have everything needed and had some things not needed. I ordered separately from another source the remaining items. I hope these pictures show ok. It looks like I used a bit much solder, but it bled thru from the bottom. Sorry I wrote down Q601 buy meant Q660 the one in the picture.

I'm looking at it, in the meantime, Do you have IPA (Isopropyl alcohol )at all or similar?
Do yourself a favour and cleanup all that flux where you've worked

                      Any reason why there's a RJP56F4A for Q661?

So you're 100% sure all IGBTs are good, not shorted? You check all combinations of the legs? They don't always short across all 3 legs.

If there are any 30f125 transistors, can you resistance check between the legs and make sur they in K ohms or higher, these can fail but not dead short say around 2-300ohms.

On IC771 can you resistance check between the centre leg and output (left leg) as shown in your picture. I need the value

                        Check D451 for short

I usually use alcohol and a tooth brush, but it seems like the flux hardens up. I was told acetone works better. The Q661 was what was removed from the old board. Even though the packages give locations, I always write down what I am removing and from what location. Also, as I mentioned before, nothing fried when I powered it up. I checked all the diodes and transistors that I replaced just to make sure. Thanks for your help on this. I just fixed 2 50" Panny's and they are working great, but I know the 5175 board can be a nightmare.

Well tw, I think you found 1 problem. D451 is shorted. Diode range on my meter shows .01 volts in both directions. I think I checked every diode on the board but I must have missed that one. I guess next time I will have to write down which ones I check. I know for sure D652 was shorted which made sense and of course it was in the kit. Do you think I did any further damage. I did check everything as you recommended and all check good on all combinations of the legs. There are 2-30f125 and they check in k ohms. The ic771 reading is 5.63 k ohms. Thanks

Do you have a replacement or do you need to know what that is? Any scrap boards you can pinch one from?

was Q551 checked or replaced?, check R551 10 ohm. Have you checked all 5.6 & 7.5 ohm gate resistors.

Then strap yourself in and hang on, fire it up and fingers crossed.

So back on Q661, I trust you still have all the dead parts in a pile? No RJP63F3A in that pile?

I do have another 5175 that works- the one that only lit up half the screen because it was an AB version, not an AD. I think I will swipe it from that board till I get a replacement. Yes I did check all the gate resistors. I will check Q551 and resistor. On the Q661, I did read it off when I removed it and I read one of your previous posts about that. I guess one is 560 volt, while the other is 630 volt. Would it be best to put a 63 in there?

If the board was original and untouched , and you're saying that's what was in there then it must either be a running change or the manuals are wrong.

If it's original then it must be ok.

I must admit I've thought about using one myself when I run out of the 630V one as it would not see that voltage ther and current ratings would be the same.

So leave it if it's the same as original.

handy info because I'm down to my last RJP63F3A and have a number of 56F4A which I'm also subbing for the DG502 in a board and it's fine.

that would make reapiring these a bit simpler and less bits to chase .

That diode is 400V , could be RF071L4S or RF101L4S

You can find similar on SS boards, samsung buffer boards or ES1J would do

I did look at the old parts and it for sure was a 56. Like you said, the service manual shows a 63. Oh well, at least they are not exploding on me. I will get back tomorrow with results, now its spend time with the wifey. Oh by the way, the r551 was reading 4.7 k. I have spares, so I will replace along with the Q551. Are these common areas to look at or out of the ordinary.
