    Polaroid TLA-04641C - No Display/Doesn't power off

All the voltages are present, standby/5v/12v and 24v for backlights

Noticed it won't power off once it's turned on. I'm curious if it's a backlights only issue or something with mainboard

Inverter seems like a pain to get to so don't want to tackle it yet if the issue of it not turning off is something else

Not to be able to turn off the TV with power switch indicates problem on the main board.

Maxxarcade has a video on the same Tv. Tcon had two shorted ceramic caps casuing the set to lock out. Try unhooking Tcon and see how the Tv behaves.

I actually tried that and same result. Also one time, standby light stayed red but the psu was switched on and all the voltages were available at the rail.

Sometimes when its first plugged in the ps_on pin high at 5v but the standby light stays red.

Note, the 12v rail is 11.7v is that considered low or acceptable?

There's also an adjustable voltage regulator on the mainboard with an input of 3.3v and an output of 1.3v. That 1.3v seems odd to me. Not sure if it's supposed to be 1.5v maybe

'Note, the 12v rail is 11.7v is that considered low or acceptable?' That is fine, it is not tightly regulated output, that is only about 3% off.

Ok. What about that voltage regulator? 1.3v seems odd to me but it's steady. Even tried freeze spraying it to see if it'd change (to see if regulator was faulty) but stayed at 1.3v

Ok I noticed the processor uses BGA solder. Figured let me try heating it up and seeing if there's any change as I'm familiar with the issue with Xbox 360s etc where over time the solder balls would crack leading to poor connection.

Well I applied heat for about 5 min and the set fired up after I allowed it to cool. But it immediately froze and stopped responding again.

                  Update: Fixed

I reflowed the processor on the main board that's BGA mounted has a little stick on heatsink. It's working perfect now.

Hope this helps someone with same model/symptoms
