    ACER ASPIRE A515-52G CAN ON BUT NO DISPLAY, NO POWER AT VCC_GT

    Dear All,
    Please really2 need Help on this Acer A515-52G Motherboard Compal EH5AW LA-G521P Rev: 1A.
    At first this laptop can on, keyboard light on but no display. Open the motherboard, found out the PQZ3 Mosfet and PUZ3 ic near it burn. Refer picture below. Then I replaced both. All the power rail 3.3,5,1.2, 1.35, 0.8V have power back after i turn on the laptop except for the VCC_GT rail. Voltage at Power Supply showing 0.000A before turn on, after turn on it became 0.5 0.6A. Seem cannot boot and still no display. Then I replaced the PUG1 and mosfet, but the VCC_GT still no power. Only no more short. Anyone can help me on this.

    After power on, no power at VCC_GT rail, I replaced PUG1 and mosfet PQG1.Refer schematic below. During checking the power of PUG1, the voltage available is Enable voltage 5V, VCC 5V, Boot 4.8V, PWM 2.5V but no power on pin for UGATE, PHASE and LGATE. Seem the mosfet PQG1 not switching on. Anyone can give advise what other things i should check, maybe i miss something. All the caps and resistor seem ok.

    PQZ3 is high side mosfet.Since it got burnt,19V reached SOC.So simply the SOC is damaged and replacing the SOC along with driver IC and upper/lower mosfet on gfx line will give display.
    Else simply waste of time. Unfortunately ,every other mb on SOC architecture has this fate.

      Thank you @mcplslg123, which one soc you referring? is it EC or something more worst? Apologize since I'm still new learner. Is it worth to repair? May you assist me check which soc number in the schematic i provided below, maybe i can trace back and order new. Fyi, after i replaced PQZ3, it has output 0.8V for +VCC_CORE. Only no output at PQG1 for +VCC_GT rail. That's the only one left no power after I turn on. I replaced IC driver PUG1 and mosfet PQG1 also no fate. Below the voltage output i trace from PUG1:
      PUG1 power is below:
      1.EN=5.08
      2.PHASE=0
      3.UGATE=0
      4.BOOT=4.8
      5.PWM=2.5
      6.PGND=0
      7.LGATE=0
      8.VCC=5.18

        Something worst. In your picture, the SOC ( processor ) is what is under the cooling parts, near where you draw the 0.8 and 1.1V arrows.

          SOC=System on Chip which is made of Processor and PCH combined together on a single chip.

            How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
            by Jane
            I tried to use this method:

            Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

            Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
            Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
            Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

            Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
            Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

            VCCGT mosfet damaged igpu?
            by mosfetratus
            acer predator g9-791g, i had previous thread about short 19v, but i solved this problem by replacing mosfet, in fact both two phases, just as a precaution.

            Mosfet that went is responsible for phase B of VCCGT (iGPU) [u8004].

            VGA MOSfet permanently shorted and loss of MOSfet pad
            by Nooy
            Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

            I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

            Asus X712EA 3 volts after the first mosfet
            by AppleLover123
            Hey guys,

            i have a asus motherboard here and as the title says after the first mosfet (in the picture) there is nothing more than 3.15v.
            I injected 19v and max. 1 amp at the charging port and there is not voltage drop or smth. It's just taking 19v and 1 milliamp.
            Then i tried to inject 19v and max 1amp after the current sensor and there it first takes 19v and 4 milliamps and after 2 seconds it is taking nothing (no current).
            I measured on the coils on board everything seems fine. Also the main power rail is not shorted (infinite resistance).
            Now i thought something...

            ASUS ROG Zephyrus GPU Mosfet repeat failure
            by MicroSMD Lab
            The board number is GU502DU. I repaired this a couple weeks ago and it came back with the same issue, same mosfet failed (PQH9201). I'm hoping that the GPU was spared this time.
            I used the same replacement part (purchased from Mouser) and I'm certain the soldering was done properly since it took just as much effort to remove as before. What could cause this same mosfet to fail? I'm thinking if it was unsuitable then the others would fail too. I looked for similar failures on YTube and the mosfet was replaced with AOE6930 in one instance and AOE6932 in the other but it's possible that the...
