maybe worth trying freeze spray too as you can find the problem area quicker sometimes, but tab bond issues can be fixed budm has some that been running a while i think on his own sets.

That's my thoughts too. Use the heater to warm it up and get it going and the freezer to isolate the area of the fault.
However I have to leave it for now to one side and tidy up since I will be away for a few days but will pick it back up on my return.

          Re: LG LE37LH4000-ZA Tcon Issue?

Since warming up the tab-panel circuit strip I've been unable to bring back the original fault no matter how much flexing, pushing and twisting of the set.

The back cover is on and it's behaving itself perfectly. Will run it for a few days and see if it reverts back to it's earlier fault.

The only conclusion I can reach is perhaps the tab-panel board was damp and warming it up has dried it out, Can't think what else could have done it.

Press down on each tab driver see which one cures the issue.

              Hello ReeceyBurger123
The set is currently behaving itself 100% even when attempting to flex the screen. No amount of pushing and shoving the set affects the picture at the moment which remains perfect.
I'm away for a few days so will check it on my return.

                Re: LG LE37LH4000-ZA Tcon Issue?

Looks like time to scrap this set but before I do has anyone done this as suggested by another Forum user.

To test Tcon jump 12v from SMPS to the Tcon fuse. Disconnect the LVDS cables Jump VCC 3.3v to the LVDS(CN1) connector ground pin. Apply ac to power supply, patterns of White, Red, Blue, Green should appear on the screen.
Voltages can be read at the ribbon connector or at test locations on the board (typical 16.74V, 3.3V, -5V and 28V)
Could anyone confirm whether or not this test works?

Just removed one tcon connection and then replaced it and then removed the other and for each test the picture was only seen at the very top of the screen. With both tcon cables re-installed the set is virtually picture perfect.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what the white milky stuff is that can be seen under the COF chip?

was this the one with water damage ?
could be residue thats dried ?
use a soft rubber and clean tcon cables following the line they run not accross then wipe to remove rubber particles

                    Hi comptek,
I'm not aware that there was water damage but that does not mean there wasnt. It does look like water vapour but the COF chips run hot so I would have thought that would be the dryest point on the cable. I've shelved it for now and will look at it another time.
                    Thanks for the tip.

I have the same Panel here same issue, I think I have a leaky ceramic cap on the tabbond pcb as when I freeze them it works fine when heated I get loads of lines. Going to keep testing.

I sorted the issue with mine DB Guess what the fault was, not the panel or the Tcon but the flat flex ribbon cables that link the Tcon Lvds signals to the panel. Upon close inspection of the one I had the pins at the end seemed to be a little broken/detached from the rest of the copper. I think its because of the alu tape around the cable as mine was at the end surprisingly next to where the copper pin was broke.

I had some spare so I swapped both out and boom the set it fixed perfect image every time even from cold and after being left on for hours

                          Any luck with yours ?

I've not looked at it since and it's been left to one side for now.
I'll inspect the ribbons when I have a chance to get back to it and see what happens.

Inspected the ribbons under a magnifier and they looked fine, however I managed to crack the screen lifting it so now split down for parts. Not quite the solution I was looking.
Teaches me to be a lot more careful in the future.

Hi Paul, I have another one of these panels same issue, so far resoldered some smd caps on the tabbond pcb seems to be working ok, after checking under my scope seems like some dry joints not only on that but on the tcon too. Btw the white marks on the tabs are normal just pressure from the frame pushing up against them.

If that fails I will replace the ribbons again like the last one I did.

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

                                        Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a BIOS-related issue with my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100. When I power on the laptop, the screen stays black, and there is no response from the system. I suspect a corrupted BIOS.

I have checked the forum and the available documentation but could not find a solution specific to my issue.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

HELP - Contrast/brightness issue with subtitles on screen

                                        Hi everybody
Since day one I'm having an unpleasant contrast/brightness issue on my Asus laptop.
Basically while watching movies, if subtitles appear on screen, the contrast or the brightness of the entire screen increases a lot (not sure if it'is brightness or contrast), disturbing the viewing of the movie.

Last year I replaced my screen because got damaged and this contrast/brigthness issue persists. It happens only on the laptop screen, in fact If i plug an external HDMI screen the issue does not occour on it.

It occours both on ubuntu and windows...
