Fixed this TV once before for bad solder joints (no backlight), but now it's back with sound, backlight, but no picture. Any ideas?

Yes, it's a particularly bad design for a board to board connector. You must have a later version of the PS that detects low current going to the driver board and forces a shutdown. My TV would operate just fine with the broken connector (just no backlight), so it obviously didn't have a low current detection capability.

    Another one fixed!

Add me to the list of people who have had to fix this rather silly issue. Fresh solder on the connections and hot glue on the connector brought this Vizio back up. That connector seems to have been designed to fail just outside of the warranty period .

In this particular case, it wasn't even powering up at all. The white power light would slowly pulse and then the thing would eventually just give up. Every single point for that connector had broken free.

Thanks guys...a little searching goes along way. Easy fix...Nice
A little 'bout myself..I learned to troubleshoot computer & software problems on my own since 98, figured why have to ask someone else to. I help others that either can't afford it or don't have the insight

check driverboards. on the two i repaired seems driver boards became un seated and where making contact with speakers grounding them. again thank u guys im always grateful for the fat(knowledge) u put on my head while opening my eyes. i just headlocked my electrical specialty degree plus 4 other certificates that coincide with my field. shortly before that, in 2016 opened (out the mud) the first tv repair shop in my end of texas and you guys have helped me grind through the struggle. you guys are beast and what im really striving to be like. With a cheap multimeter you can start to make headway as suggested.
I also suspect an Led(s) fault so in the meantime you could look up on Youtube, video's on how to remove the LCD panel and check out the Leds.
Again as suggested you would need to be very careful lifting the panel so as not to damage it when removing and replacing it so watch a few videos.

just go out and get yourself a $10 to $25 multimeter and we can help you get to the bottom of it. you dont need to spend $150.

if you just randomly board swap, you will most likely throw way too much money at it and may not end up with a successful repair in the end anyway.

Wow... We're sorry that you don't feel welcome. I get that you don't want to trash a $500 TV, but you need to make at least a small investment to obtain just the basic tools. We don't have the TV - you do. Most of us would probably breeze thru the fix of this TV, but for us to help you, you need to present us with some basic data. It's not hard (stay-at-home moms have had success here), so at least try to do your part.

I would throw it away as it is probably bad leds which are harder to change than just swapping boards. Really why should we waste our time trying to help you when you are unwilling to even take a voltage test like budm suggested.

If you have or can borrow a multi meter we can advise you what to test/how to test the boards that way you should be able to narrow down the faulty board/part the trouble is with second hand parts they can be faulty too we have seen this numerous times

Thank you, budm. I did check out the solder joints and there was no cracking and the connector was solid.
Unfortunately it's not cost effective for me to do component repair. I called ShopJimmy for some guidance on my swaptronics effort but they told be to post here for help on Badcaps. Consensus looks like the LCD board is my next swap out since the new power supply didn't do the job.

    Vizio 91.76Q02.001G / 91.76Q10.001G LED Driver for E550I-B2

Check to see if you have boosted DCV between the two pads where cap TC6 is not installed. The LEDs are in the panel which is the common failure for TV with LED backlights.
    Pictures provided by shopjimmy.
BTW, you did do the inspection for bad solder joints per post 1?

My first guess would be bad LEDs in the backlights.

Yeah I've read about taking the panel out / layers to clean, but I'll give it a few days in a warm room with a small heater and see if it clears up; the water spot has already started to shrink, so I'll see after a few days. I had another set with water behind LCD in the past that did go away after some time, so we'll see on this one I guess.

I kept it quick for now for basic testing, simply removed the old solder, then re-soldered it with fresh. If any problems come up with that, I'll try the other method you suggest.

Sad that a lot of this model probably got trashed, for such a simple problem with the connector.

    Thanks!

Just trash picked one of these, of course CN202 had all broken solder joints. I'll have to let the screen dry thoroughly, before I call the set good / bad, as it sat out in the rain before I picked it up, plus the screen has some scratches, although not physically broken.

On another note: I've trash picked like 20 LED TV's with bad backlights over the last several months, I'm not impressed at the rate they fail, many were fairly new, good screens, burnt led strips...

Add another one to the list
    Same problem and same fix.
I glued connector 1st then I took out both boards at the same time
Re-soldered and it has been working perfectly for 2 months now
I wish I would get in more of these.
An easy fix makes the day go better

vizio E60-E3 backlights, sound, no video
    by ajshoe
Have a free Vizio E60-E3 pickup - sound and backlights work. set turns on and stays on for a period then cycles off and back on. NO VIDEO. If I remove left side (from front of TV) of TCON cable - set has pic on right side (from front of TV) with white screen on left side. With right side TCON cable disconnected - no pic on either side.
Does this mean remove right side (from front of TV) tabs ?

Like a second opinion before possibly destroying set....

A2442 - No sound over internal speakers and no video playback
    by soeren
I am facing a strange issue, I don't have any sound over my internal MacBook speakers and also the video won't start. If I change to my head speaker or via HDMI (speaker on my external Display) the sound works over the head speaker or Display and also the video starts (ex. youtube).

All happened after the battery ran out of power overall several days when I was on vacation.

I tried to remove the battery and then reconnected the battery, and then the MacBook Pro 14 2021 won't accept any power from my power socket. Then I removed one speaker, connected again the battery...

Audio video receiver KENWood KR-V990D,no sound
    by JRade
When I select the FM receiver, I find a radio station, the sound is heard on REC OUT(L,R), REC TAPE1(L,R),REC TAPE2(L,R) on high-ohm headphones, the sound regulation does not work.
The output reacts when I connect the record player to PRE OUT FRONT L, the sound is heard in the speaker but the sound regulation does not work. Then it does not matter what I chose on the front selector.
I replaced the capacitor C303/0.047F, nothing changes.
I'm asking for help, what should I do next?
    Thanks in advance!...

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
    by FrancescoV
    Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
    M:1.00/11107BLP
    D:?.??/????????
    O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...
