  • Re: VIZIO E550i-B2 Sound - No Video Problem

Yeah I've read about taking the panel out / layers to clean, but I'll give it a few days in a warm room with a small heater and see if it clears up; the water spot has already started to shrink, so I'll see after a few days. I had another set with water behind LCD in the past that did go away after some time, so we'll see on this one I guess.

I kept it quick for now for basic testing, simply removed the old solder, then re-soldered it with fresh. If any problems come up with that, I'll try the other method...

Thought I'd add another one to this thread.

Just trash picked one of these, of course CN202 had all broken solder joints. I'll have to let the screen dry thoroughly, before I call the set good / bad, as it sat out in the rain before I picked it up, plus the screen has some scratches, although not physically broken.

On another note: I've trash picked like 20 LED TV's with bad backlights over the last several months, I'm not impressed at the rate they fail, many were fairly new, good screens, burnt led stri...

  • Insignia ns-l46x-10a

Hey guys, I've had this TV sitting around for a bit and finally got to looking into plugging it in.

It appears to have what looks like a sloarized picture, otherwise seems to work fine. Can someone look at these pics and guess at what may be causing this?

From research I see a solarized image can be caused from a bad panel, tcon, or main board.

It is hard to tell if the menu has a solarized image, I think it may be, from my limited understanding, that would help point to the main board or tcon / panel. The menu kind of looks wrong (hard for me to tell...

    Hi tom66

Thanks for the response. I have been leaning towards a bad panel from researching this, so not surprising, just didn't want to jump to conclusions when my knowledge is very limited on these. Sad as it is a nice looking TV, not that I watch TV much these days; also sad the small number of years some of these things last, I feel bad for the people that buy this stuff new.

    Thanks again....

  • Re: Sony KDL-52W5150 display issue

Looking at the Sony TCON troubleshooting PDF posted on this forum… I loosened the LVDS connector at the TCON board looking for flashes, patterns / response. Lightly touching the pins while wiggling the connector I “occasionally”, meaning not very often but did see it, get some display response, lines / quick flashes and a bright screen… but much of the time I can’t get it to do anything, have to rapidly move the connector around and again, only on occasion.

I went ahead and hooked up the tuner and the...

  • Sony KDL-52W5150 display issue

    Hi,

First post here, but have read a lot over the years. I like to tinker with electronics but am by no means a professional!!! I thank you for any help or even at least reading this.

I recently picked up a Sony KDL-52W5150 LCD TV made in 2009. I got it to scrounge parts from mainly, but being the display isn't physically broken, if I can repair something, I like to try first. I will try to add pics below if the forum lets me; note that the picture does not look snowy, that is mainly from my iphone camera and low light.

It powers up ok, back light comes...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi,

I'm new here obviously, lol, but have been reading here for a number of years and it is a very nice forum. I enjoy working on electronics and have been tinkering for a little over 10 years or so, still have a lot to learn. Many of my "treasures" are dumpster dives, well mainly items out for trash day, or thrift store finds, but can get some great stuff if one can repair it, I usually have decent luck.

    All the best!
