Sony KDL-40S2000 Black screen, no input signal, has sound

Got this TV free from the neighbors. Said they were watching TV and suddenly it turned off by itself, then turned itself back on with just a blank black screen but still had audio coming out of it.

Just confirmed that it powers up. Couldn't even get the main menu to pop up. Bad mainboard?

Power supply board looks good. All those little caps are Jamicon though, maybe they dried out??

Are the backlights on or off? Can you see any image if you shine a bright light into the screen?

Yes the backlight is on. Did not shine a flashlight to check for image. Will check when i get home

no need for flashlight if backlights work.
I think you need to concentrate on the T-con board. Measure both sides of the fuse on the t-con to see if you have 12 volt dc on both sides of that fuse.

That mainboard has lots of VERY SMALL SMD fuses, there is one on the main board for the VCC for the T-CON also, so check and see if you do have Voltage at the T-CON fuse as suggested by martino.
