Philips 32PFL7762D/05 - Stuck in standby - LED blink code

Originally got this one months ago and it was turning on but had some weird display issues. Just got back to it and it's not coming out of standby and it's flashing an error code. Voltages are all there at the PSU.

The blink pattern doesn't seem to match that described in the service manual (attached - see pages 21&22). It seems to be: medium blink (~1.5secs), then four short blinks, a long pause, long blink (~3secs) and then the pattern repeats. I've attached an animated GIF of the pattern.

Does anyone know anything about this error code?

So I followed the procedure described in the service manual to load default NVM values. With SDM jumper shorted which also bypasses protection, the TV powers up, responds to remote, menus work and I get DTV sound and picture, but the display is distorted (see photo). I think a new SSB will sort this but as they seem expensive and not too common I'd rather see if I can fix this one.

Assuming the error code is error 4 (4 short flashes, though the longer flashes don't seem to fit the described pattern) - it is listed as general I2C error and the service manual gives some hints, so I'll look into that.

Good point! I hadn't even noticed that through the distortion. It looks to me like error 14 and error 10. I guess the longer blink stands for the decimal digit as in other Philips models, so 1 long + 4 short = 14, but I was confused because on this model the service menu describes a different blink system where error 14 would just be 14 short blinks.

That gives me something more to go on thanks! Error 10 and 14 means both SDRAM chips defective. Perhaps more likely a problem with supply voltage to those chips? Will check voltages around there.

the 10 or 18 ??? it is related also to SDRAM, freezing it ot heating it you will find whats going on freezing it bad sector of 8 bits, heating are bad soldering out and in of the ram. good luck

Could be 18 actually yes - but 18 in the manual just says 'Reserved'. I will try what you say. Thanks again.

Freezing and heating had no effect.

Does anyone speak any Russian? This guy seems to have had the same issue:
                  http://monitor.net.ru/forum/philips-...fo-320361.html

But from the google translation I can't make out if he fixed it, but I think he says he changed the SDRAM and it didn't help.
